Joseph A. Henry

Graveside services will be held in Media, Pennsylvania, for 20-year East Boston resident, Joseph A. Henry, sometime in the very near weeks.  Mr. Henry died on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 following a valiant battle with Lymphoma, at Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, at 70 years.  Born & raised in Media, Pennsylvania, he came to live in East Boston twenty years ago.  For over 10 years, he worked within the drug rehabilitation programs, both privately & municipally as a substance abuse counselor, & for a lengthy time was on staff at “The Victory Program” of Dorchester.  He is lovingly survived by his devoted companion of 19 years, Christine A. Murphy, with whom he made his home.  He is the beloved father of, Saundra L. Murphy of Revere, Derrell Bishop & her husband Edward, & Joseph Henry all of Mantua, New Jersey, & George Henry of Philadelphia, PA.  He is also survived by his former wife, Virginia (Carter) Henry of Claymont, Delaware, several Grandchildren, & several Great-Grandchildren.  He was also the brother of the late, Harvey & George Henry.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.

    Joe was a great, selfless man who helped me immensely through my early struggles with recovery. I will miss you my friend. God bless.
