Joseph S. Oreto, Sr.
Family & friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, December 27th, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE, for Joseph S. Oreto, Sr., who passed after a lengthy illness on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the VA Boston Healthcare System of Brockton. Please meet directly at church. Per order of the Archdiocese of Boston, masks are required in church. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 p.m.
Born & raised in Revere, he was a lifelong resident & alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1952. In August of 1954, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps & served honorably until his discharge on August 15, 1958, as Sergeant. He was married to his one & only, Emily J. (Caddle) Oreto & they had five (5) children. Emily was stricken with metastatic cancer and passed on October 16, 1980 at only 42 years of age. “Joey” was faced with raising five children, with help from his Mom & Dad, the late Joseph M. Oreto & Grace M. (Fabiano) Oreto & other Oreto family members. He had a thirty-six-year career with Polaroid Corp., as a lead Mechanic within the Film Department. He was prompted to take an early retirement in 1999 & continued to be a dedicated dad, grandpa, son, brother & uncle.
He is the proud father to Deborah J. McTomney & husband Michael of Quincy, Joseph S. Oreto, Jr. & wife, Sonia of Revere, Ronald S. Oreto of Medford, Darrin J. Oreto of Revere & Scott C. Oreto of Weymouth. Cherished Grandpa to 7 grandchildren & 5 great- grandchildren. Dear brother of Lillian F. Hibbard & her husband, Hugh of Revere & the late Frank P. Oreto & the late Carol A. Consolo. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

I’m so proud of the person you were. Thank you for serving our country. Thank you for being the father of the Oreto’s family, and thought us with joyful life experience. We love you and we will always miss you. You are forever in our hearts ♥️
