Joseph W. Hoy, Jr.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Joseph W. Hoy, Jr. on Friday, March 21st, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Joseph, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, followed by interment in the Wood End Cemetery, Reading.  Mr. Hoy passed on Tuesday, March 18th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, at 75 years.  He was born & raised in Brighton, & lived many years in the area before coming to Reading in 1987.  For over 22 years, he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring from the South Postal Annex as a supervisor.  A daily communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he would often take his “daily constitutional” (walk) on the Lake at Wakefield.  There he formed many new friendships & earned him the title, “Mayor of Wakefield.”  He is the beloved & devoted husband, best friend, & soul mate for almost 40 years to Janet M. (Clauss) Hoy.  He was the dear son of the late: Joseph W. Hoy, Sr. & Mary A. (Thaxter) Hoy.  He is the cherished uncle of Philip & Nancy LaTorre of New Hampshire, David & Marcia LaTorre of North Andover, Paul & Kim Clauss of New Jersey, Diane Kresslein of  Virginia, & Kevin Clauss of Winthrop.  He is the adoring grand-uncle to: Jennifer & Philip LaTorre of NH, Alexandra & Nicolas LaTorre of North Andover, Paul & Hilary Clauss of New Jersey, & David Kresslein of Virginia.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
