Maria A. Mederois – Carvalho

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, January 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Maria Antonieta Mederois – Carvalho, who died on Wednesday, January 13th at her home surrounded by the warmth & love of her family, after a brief illness, she was 80 years old. Interment will be held Privately.

Maria was born & raised in St. Michael, Azores. She came to the United States in 1957 with her family and settled in East Cambridge. Maria was a hard-working woman who always did what she could for her family. She was a dedicated wife & mother, first and foremost. She was a gifted seamstress and made most her children’s outfits, especially for the holidays & special events. She would make many things for her family, friends and neighbors. It was something she did throughout her entire life. Maria worked at Fenton Shoe for approximately 10 years before becoming an LPN at Youville Hospital in Cambridge, for 5 years. As her family became larger, Maria stayed home to raise her children. She later returned to the workforce and became a Laboratory Assistant at Harvard University, before she retired. Loving & caring for her family is where Maria’s heart was most filled with joy. She was the epitome of what a “Mother” & “Nana” is. Maria will be missed & remembered and will always be loved.

She is the devoted wife of 65 years to Luis Carvalho of Billerica, formerly of East Cambridge & Somerville. Loving mother of Paula Grey & husband Scott of Saugus, Louis A. Carvalho, Sr. of Moosup, CT, Patricia A. Rabideau & husband James, Sr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, Marjorie Hersey – Ross & husband Derek of Everett, Yvonne M. Graham of Beverly & Tina Votelho of East Providence, RI. Cherished Nana of Brittany J. Hersey her dedicated caregiver, James Rabideau, Jr., Ryan Rabideau, Michael Rabideau, Kristen Toppi, Tammi Carvalho, Louis Carvalho, Jr., & Joseph Rabideau. Adored great Nana -Nette of Jared, Sophia, McKenzie, Tyler, Ava, Nikozy, Madison, Aria & Sora. Dear sister of Luis Faria & wife Lydia of Somerville, John Faria & wife Donna of Billerica, Lucy Rodrigues of Hudson, NH, Joseph Faria & wife Diane of Harvard, & the late Germaine Leite. She is also lovingly survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.


Services

Visiting Hours

Face masks must be worn at all times & social distancing must be maintained in the funeral home. All attendees are required to provide their name and phone number for contact tracing and temperatures will be checked prior to entering the funeral home. Only 25 people are allowed in the Funeral Home at one time. Guests are asked to visit briefly and to exit the funeral home to allow others to enter.

Monday, January 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Interment

Will be Private

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
