Maria K. (Amato) LaValle

Family & friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, March 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) REVERE for Maria K. (Amato) LaValle, who died on Wednesday, March 24th in the loving presence & tender care of her husband Joseph at their residence in Revere, following a lengthy illness; she was 70 years old. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Maria was a proud lifelong resident of Revere. She was an alumna of Revere High School Class of 1969. Maria worked her entire professional career as an Insurance Broker for various agencies & companies. She worked for many years at Louis Hoffman Insurance Co. in Boston, later at Revere Auto Insurance & lastly, at Rizzo Insurance Agency in Revere, retiring in 1998. Maria’s pride & joy was her family, especially her son and grandson. She was happiest spending time with them or along side her husband at the Point of Pines Yacht Club in Revere on their boat. Maria had been battling various forms of cancer for many years, yet her attitude, courage & determination, never wavered. She took each day as it came and fought through all the battles. Her small frame and soft smile didn’t match the enormity of her spirit; she truly was an inspiration. She will be forever missed by all who loved her, especially her family & her dear friends.

She is the devoted daughter of Vincenza (Mercurio) Amato & the late Carmelo “Mel” Amato of Revere. The beloved wife of 49 years to Joseph A. LaValle of Point of Pines, Revere. The loving mother of Joseph M. LaValle & wife Kelly of Plainville. The cherished grandmother of Samuel A. LaValle of Plainville. The dear sister of Vincent P. Amato of Florida. She is lovingly survived by her sister-in-law Lisa M. Tata – Amato of Revere.  She is the treasured niece of Marie G. Tully & her late husband Robert E. Tully of Winthrop. The loving aunt of Michael V. Amato & wife Sarah of Georgetown, Matthew P. Amato & wife Laura of NJ, John Presto of CT, Lauren Repucci of Malden, Lisa Joyner and husband Norwood of Leominster, and the late Lydia Repucci and the late Anthony Presto.  She is the loving grand aunt of Vincenzo, Fiametta, Giannina, & Carmelo Amato.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children by visiting www.lovetotherescue.org.

I met Maria when I had just moved into the pines a young girl buying a house on her own almost 30 years ago. She welcomed me with a warm smile and caring eyes. She always carried a warm place in my heart! She will be very much missed, the pines will not be the same without her smile! I hope she has found peace and spreading joy where she is as she did here with us….

Could not believe it when I saw your beautiful picture on Facebook . Still as lovely as ever . We go back many years when we were on the St. Anthony’s drill team with Vinny Cowhig and Ginger. So many years ago but it does not seem so .
May you Rest In Peace and suffer no more . My sympathy to all your family .
    Love , Joanne DiMare DeIeso

Send your condolences.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
