Marie G. Canty

Family & friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, August 30th beginning at 9:00 a.m.am, in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Marie G. Canty, who passed after a brief illness on Friday, August 23rd at Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers . Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 11:00 a.m. & immediately followed with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Revere, she attended Revere schools & was a 1948 alumna of Revere High School. A most proud & energetic member of Boston’s Deaf Community, she never allowed her hand handicap, in any way interfere with her exciting love of life, especially work & play. She had a long career with the former “A. & P.” Food Corp. as a computer operator at the headquarters of “A. & P.” in Boston’s North End. Although never married, she adopted her only brother’s (Edward’s) family as her own, especially her two nieces & their families. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community & appreciated traveling as well. She earned the love & admiration from all for her tenacity in the mode of fierce independence, she conducted her life.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Charles J. & Grace M. (McDevitt) Canty. Dear sister of the late Edward C. & his late wife Marie E. Canty. Adored & proud aunt to Ellen G. Ferrante & her husband Revere School Committeeman Michael A. Ferrante of Revere & Lucille A. “Lu-Ann” O’Hearn & her husband Mark of Melrose. Loving grand aunt to Edward M. & Melissa E. Ferrante, both of Revere & Cory R. & Nancy M. O’Hearn, both of Melrose. Marie also leaves several cousins in Ohio & the North Shore Area.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
