Marie M. DiMonte
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 17th beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Marie M. DiMonte, who died following a lengthy illness, on Friday, June 12th at the Resident Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Framingham. Her funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in St. Michael Cemetery in Boston’s Forest Hills section.
Born and raised in Boston, the family lived in East Boston and then moved to Revere over 65 years ago. Marie was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1954. She attended New England Conservatory of Music, majoring in voice. Marie had a genuine love of opera and the classics. Her voice was indeed, according to family and friends, “most operatic” even in the early days of her career. A long-standing illness came upon her and prevented her from continuing her education and her hopes of an operatic career. However, in spite of her handicap, she continued to sing for her family, friends and neighbors.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Angelo DiMonde (DiMonte) and Rosaria “Rose” (Riccio) DiMonde (DiMonte). She is the dear sister of Jean Barrett of Norwood, Pasquale Dimonte of Seabrook NH, Anna Rotondo of Saugus, Gloria M. Ferullo, Lena M. Spagnolo and Rose Festa, all of Revere, Anthony Dimonte of Chelsea and the late Margaret DiMonte, George DiMonte and Antonetta Lea. She is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
