Mary A. “Maureen” (McManus) Dever

Funeral Services & Interment will be held privately due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic for Mary A. “Maureen” (McManus) Dever, who passed on Saturday, July 11th at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness, she was 84 years old.

Maureen was born & raised in Londonderry North, Ireland. She was educated in Ireland and came to the United States when she was just 19 years old. She married Robert J. Dever & the couple spent many years raising their family in East Boston. They later moved to Revere in 1985, where she remained until her death. Maureen was a dedicated homemaker to her family and  after her children were in High School, she took a position at M.I.T., in the food service area of the campus. She worked there for approximately 15 years before retiring. Maureen loved being with her family and sharing many laughs & wonderful memories. She loved walking Revere Beach and enjoyed the beauty of the ocean. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was also an avid reader of many types of books. She loved to travel and would often return to Ireland to visit with her family. Family was the heart & soul of her life. However, one of Mary’s very favorite treats was to embark on a spontaneous suggestion to take a quick trip up Route 1 Saugus for lunch or dinner at the Border Cafe. Surely, it brought to mind many tender memories, as this was also a special place for her late husband and she to enjoy their time together.

She is the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Dever, who passed on April 18th, 2003. Loving mother of Christine E. Harmon & husband Tommy of Woburn, Robert F. Dever of Revere & Cathleen P. Dever & her longtime companion Robert DeFronzo of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer N. Melville R.N. & husband Joseph of Westwood & Derek M. Harmon of Woburn. Adored great grandmother of Aria, Ava & Logan. Dear sister of the late Richard “Dickie” McManus (Former Band Leader of the “Irish Revolution”) & Christina Young. She is also lovingly survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Eilish” (Young) McManus of Revere & her brother-in-law, Patrick Young of Derry, Ireland. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews also survive Maureen, both in the USA & Ireland.

Funeral Services and Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett will be private.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Massachusetts General Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have.
