Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 29th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Mary L. (Griggers) Jensen, aka Mary L. Cutillo, who died following a long illness at Hammersmith House of Saugus on Thursday, April 25, at 84 years.  Born & raised in Selma, Alabama, she attended school there & came to live in Revere over 70 years ago.  Most of her working career was spent in food service, namely the Revere IHOP Restaurant for over 20 years, where she was a very popular personality, as a hostess & a waitress.  Later & until her retirement, she worked at Stop & Shop for nearly 16 years in food service.  Mary always loved her work, especially working & meeting people.  She formed friendships that have lasted until her death.  As a young bride here in Revere, her mother-in-law, Philomena “Ma” Cutillo, took her under her wing.  There she piqued as a “top” Italian chef & homemaker.  She & her late mother-in-law enjoyed a close & unique relationship.  She is the beloved wife of over 40 years to Paul M. Jensen, & the late Frank Cutillo, Sr.  She is the devoted mother of: Carolyn Catinazzo & her husband, Nicholas R. Catinazzo, the Director of the Revere Board of Health, & John D. Cutillo, all of Revere, Linda E. Shaughnessy & her husband, Richard, of Millbury, MA, Frank “Chuckie” Cutillo, Jr. of California, & Robert Cutillo & his wife, Christine, of Georgia.  She is also lovingly survived by her 6 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren, her sister-in-law Betty Ponder of Louisiana, & many nieces & nephews.  She is the dear Sister to Sarah Dever of Pennsylvania, & the late Willie Ponder.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 30th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Peabody.

    Mama,
    I miss you. I miss seeing your beautiful face and listening to all the lessons you taught me in life, lessons that helped
    me be a better person, a devoted and loving mother, a good wife and a wonderful and generous grandmother. I will miss you forever but I know we will meet again.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
