Mary M. (Russo) Soriano

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, July 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home Soriano, Maryfor Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Mary M. (Russo) Soriano, who died on Thursday, July 28th with her family by her side, at the Hathorne Hill Rehabilitation & Care Center in Danvers, after a long illness.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 1st at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Most Holy Redeemer Church, 72 Maverick St. East Boston.

Mary was born & raised in Boston. She was educated in the Boston Public Schools. She was married to Ignazio “Fred” Soriano, the couple later settled in East Boston in 1960 to raise their family. Mary was a housewife and took great pride in her home and her family. As her children got older and began their own families, Mary had the pleasure of hosting traditional Sunday dinners at her home. She would always prepare an abundant amount of food, for all of her children and grandchildren to enjoy. Mary had a zest for life but family was the core of Mary’s heart, and she was blessed with a family who showed her an abundance of love every day.

 

She is the devoted wife of the late Ignazio F. ”Fred” Soriano of whom they shared 67 years of marriage. Loving mother of Marie C. Tennant of East Boston & her late husband Timothy R. Tennant, Frederick M. “Freddie” Soriano & his wife Cheryl of Middleton, Gerard F. Soriano & his wife Cheryl of Bradford, Steven M. Soriano & his wife Kristine M. of Lynnfield and Susan M. Mancini & her husband Michael S. of Salem. Beloved sister of Frank Russo & his wife Gloria of East Boston, Sarah Neal of Arizona & the late Michael J. Russo. Cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, “Joey”. Also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. . Entombment will be in Woodlawn Versailles Community Mausoleum, Everett.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
