Edward J. “Eddie” Tarmy

Funeral services were held privately for Edward J. “Eddie” Tarmy who died unexpectedly at his Revere home on Sunday, September 22nd. He was 49 years old.

Eddie was raised in East Boston and attended Boston Public Schools. When he was in his late twenties, he and his family moved to the Beachmont section of Revere. Unfortunately, Eddie was disabled due to a medical condition and was unable to work. However, he was a loving & kind man, who did his best of giving of himself and a helping hand. Eddie had an affection for horses and Boston sports. Above all he loved his family. His presence will be greatly missed by his family especially his dear father.

He is the loving son of Edward B. Tarmy of Revere & the late Roseann D. (DiCicco) Tarmy. He is the dear brother of F. Gayle Tarmy of Winthrop & Michelle A, Carrillo & husband David J. of Revere. He is the cherished uncle of Nicole M. Carrillo, David J. Carrillo both of Revere, Giana Taravani of Winthrop & Olivia Finnegan of Lynn. He is the beloved nephew of Linda DiGaudio, Anthony DiCicco both of East Boston and the late Sara Ziropolo, & Nicholas, Charles, Joseph, John, George, Thomas DiCicco, Rita Roszalis & Carpina Ciampa. He is also lovingly survived by many cousins.

Nicholas Stavropoulos

Family & friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, September 30th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) REVERE, for Nicholas Stavropoulos, who passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years following a brief illness on September 26th. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Mr. Stavropoulos was born & raised in Chelsea, attended Chelsea schools & was an alumnus of Chelsea High School, Class of 1945. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army on June 22, 1945, two weeks following his graduation. He was discharged on February 3, 1947 as a Private Rifleman. He served from December of 1945 thru January of 1947 overseas & returned to his Chelsea Home. After returning home, he worked various jobs, for about ten years before marrying Florence (D’Amico) from Revere on December 9, 1957. The couple moved to Tuft’s Ave. in Everett and would remain there for 25 years. In 1967, Nick began to work as a Pipefitter for the Boston Army Base for many years and would later continue his career in pipefitting at the Charlestown Navy Yard, retiring in 1992. Florence & Nick resided in Revere for 34 years and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Although, they were childless, they were overwhelmed with their nieces and nephew’s affection & subsequently were overjoyed with the attention & affection, their grandnieces & grandnephews showered upon them. In the early sixties, Nick would join the Main Lodge of the Aleppo Temple – Shrine & he would remain an active member until December of 1985. For over 30 years, Nick has been an active member of Masonic Lodge of Cambridge, Charity Lodge. He is also a long-standing member of the Pipefitters’ Union-Local #537.

He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Florence (D’Amico) Stavropoulos. Dear brother of the late Dr. John J. Stavros & George Stavros. Devoted uncle to John M., James N. & George J. Stavros & Mary S. Hickey, all of Essex, MA, Jane C. Ouellette of Ipswich, Kristie Stavros of FL & Julie Stavros of CA. Nick is lovingly survived by two sisters-in-law; Geraldine Capano of Revere and Veronica Burgin of Peabody, brother-in-law, Americo “Rick” Capano of Revere & the late Ronald L. “Lenny” D’Amico, his cherished nieces & nephews, Steven & Richard Capano, both of Revere, Susan Sangster of Beverly, Timothy Hegarty of Rockville, MD, Leighsa Burgin of Natick & Sara C. Almeida of Peabody. His grandnieces & grandnephews; Kelsie and Jack Hegarty, Madison and his namesake, Nicky Almeida also survive “Uncle Nick”.

Marc A. Ferragamo

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Friday, September 27th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) REVERE for Marc A. Ferragamo, who died at his home, unexpectedly in Barefoot Bay, Florida on Tuesday September 10th. He was 57 years old. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 2:45 p.m. Interment is private.

Marc was born & raised in Revere & he attended Revere Public Schools. Marc at an early age began to work as an upholsterer. He started out as an apprentice in the beginning and mastered his craft to become a top tier upholsterer. With his hard work and skill set, he owned and operated his own business, both locally and in Florida. For the past 7 years he owned & operated “The Upholstery Guy”. Marc was a hardworking & loving father, brother, uncle & friend. One of Marc’s favorite past times was camping in New Hampshire with his family.

He is the beloved son of the late Christie J., Sr. & Constance A. (MacKnight) Ferragamo. Loving father of Marc A. Ferragamo & Krysti Ferragamo, both of Barefoot Bay, Florida. Dear brother of John F. Ferragamo & his wife Deborah H. of Winthrop, Andrew C. Ferragamo of Brockton, Christine M. Pragnell & her late husband Richard of Revere, Charlene L. DiPlatzi & her husband Paul of Peabody & the late Christie J. Ferragamo, Jr. Cherished grandfather of Adalei. He is also lovingly survived by his sister-in-law Tara Ferragamo of Lynn and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Robert A. Long, Sr.

Robert A. Long, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, September 18th at Winthrop Place in Winthrop, following a long illness. He was married for 56 loving years to his classmate the late Rita Marie (Leslie) Long. The lifelong resident of Revere was the only child of the late Retired Revere Fire Chief Alfred H. Long & Doris (Pike) Long. A graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Harrison DD573, in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He had the honor of being one of 5 destroyers, a week before the first atomic bomb was dropped to conduct a bombardment raid on Suruga Bay, and being one of the deepest surface ships to penetrate Japan during the war. Upon being discharged, he returned home and became a member of the Revere Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He served 26 years and during his service he served 2 years as President of the Revere Firefighters Local 926 and 6 years as its secretary. He also served 2 terms as historian of the Mass. State Firefighters Assoc. Mr. Long was also editor & part owner of the Revere Journal newspaper for a number of years. During his tenure, the publication received numerous journalism awards on the New England State & National levels. His wife was also a member of the editorial staff. Upon leaving the journal, he became a racing official at Wonderland Park.

He is survived by 4 children, Robert Jr., and wife Gail, Russell, Janis Halloran & her husband Paul & Joanne Licata & her husband Thomas. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, Alexis, Adrienne, Christopher, Andrea, Kevin, Justin, Jason, Ryan & Paige. 4 adored great grandchildren also survive him, Amelia, Isabel, Charlotte & Benjamin.

Private Funeral Services were held for the immediate family & interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery of West Peabody.

Paul M. Pedone

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, September 23rd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE for Paul M. Pedone, who died on Tuesday, September 17th at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a three year battle with a rare lung disease, Interstitial Lung Disease. Paul was 10 days shy of his 53rd birthday. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, September 24th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be Private.

Paul was a lifelong Revere resident. He was educated in Revere Public Schools and was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1984. During Paul’s high school years, he was on the varsity gymnastics team. Paul began working in the Fire Suppression System field. He began a career with Allstate Fire Inc. and continued there throughout all of his working career. He started as an Installer and soon worked his way up to Inspector. Paul took such great pride in his work and he survived each of the companies “buy outs”. He was such a good employee; he was considered an asset with each new ownership. Paul had many loves, his first being the love for his family. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them and enjoying “family time” and events. Watching the Patriots, Bruins & Red Sox was another love of his, he was a Boston Sports Fan. Paul also enjoyed golfing and he always made time with friends and family to head out to the golf course. The true passion of Paul’s was cooking, all that knew him raved about his fine cooking. He truly enjoyed creating many dishes for all who he loved to enjoy. That gave him such great pleasure in life. Unfortunately, three years ago, Paul became afflicted with a very rare lung disease. He was forced to stop working due to his declining health. He was limited with his daily routines, but it didn’t stop his witty sense of humor and spending time with friends and family.

He is the beloved son of the late Dorothy (Potenza) Pedone. Cherished father of Taylor Tobey of Melrose. Loving brother of Edward Pedone & his wife Renee of Saugus, Annette D. Boccuzzi & her husband Anthony of West Peabody, Phillip F. Pedone & his wife Tracey of Danvers and the late Daniel A. Pedone & surrogate brother of John W. King of Revere. Adored “Papa” of Lilyana Grace Como. Dear uncle of Matthew E. Pedone of Saugus, Kevin P. Pedone of Saugus, Anthony A. Boccuzzi & Rebecca D. Boccuzzi, both of West Peabody, Alexia E. Pedone of Danvers, Danielle Hylton & Colleen King, both of Salem. He is also lovingly survived by his son-in-law Brian Como of Wareham & many aunts, uncles and caring cousins. He was a member of the Revere Moose & the Revere Elks.

Lena D’Ambrosio

In East Boston, unexpectedly, September 17th, at 90 years. Dear sister of the late Louise Mackay and her late husband William M., & the late Concetta “Connie” Vitale. Beloved sister-in-law of Henry F. Vitale of East Boston & Jamaica Plain. Cherished aunt of William M. Mackay Jr. & wife Lisa M. of Stoneham, Henry F. Vitale Jr. & wife JoAnne of Jamaica Plain & John R. Vitale & wife Muna of Brighton. Also lovingly survived by many great nieces and a great nephew.

Lena worked as an Executive Secretary for several large companies in Boston’s Financial District for over 25 years. Lena also enjoyed attending the Boston Ballet and was a great patron of the arts. She always enjoyed completing arts and crafts projects in her spare time.

Private funeral services & interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett were held.

Rita A. (Vigliotta) Rappa

Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, September 19th at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., and immediately followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Lynn, Mrs. Rappa was a 1951 alumna of Lynn Classical High School. Always remembered as an extraordinary “family woman”, keeping the welfare & health of her family (her husband, her sons, their wives & her grandchildren) foremost in her mind & her heart. Her extended family of nieces & will long remember their aunt as a devoted & loving element of their huge Vigliotta family. 

She is the adored wife of 64 years to Ret. Revere Fire Cpt. Fred A. Rappa. Devoted mother of Fred A. Rappa, Jr. & wife Eleanor of Point of Pines, Revere & Stephen J. Pasquale E. “Pat” DeMarco

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, September 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Pasquale E. “Pat” DeMarco, who passed on Wednesday, September 11th, in the Boston Medical Center, following a year long illness. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Saturday, September 14th, at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00 a.m. & immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born in Brockton, “Pat” & his family came to live in East Boston for a short time & then moved to Revere over 70 years ago. “Pat” joined the U.S. Army in January of 1953 & served until December of 1954, serving as a Corporal. Upon returning from the military, he began working in the construction field, soon joining with his two brothers, founding their own construction company, “DeMarco Brothers Construction.” Later, he would found his own construction company & continue completing his college education at Wentworth Institute of Boston. And, in God’s time, would enter into the world of academia as a Professor at Wentworth Institute for over 30 years, teaching building codes, their application, the administrative structure & actual on-site experiences. He retired from Wentworth with the honorable title of Professor Emeritus. Professor DeMarco would long relish in the joy that his teaching & his students brought to him. He held his membership with the Revere Council, Knights of Columbus #179 for over 60 years. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community and was indeed remembered for his volunteered services & certainly for his magnanimous generosity. Until the day of his passing, he remained on the payroll at Revere City Hall within several departments advising & consulting in building codes and ethics. He held that position for over 20 years.

He is the beloved husband of 64 years to Jennie (Forti) DeMarco. Cherished father of Damian B. DeMarco & wife Mary of Revere, David DeMarco & wife Donna of Marlborough, MA, Daria Saia & husband Charles J. “Chuck” Saia of Londonderry, NH & Deirdre Damiano & husband Stephen Damiano of Revere. Devoted grandfather of Daria C. Saia of Derry, NH, Stephen Damiano, Jr. & wife Jacqueline of Revere, AnnMarie Censullo & husband Stephen of Londonderry, NH, Christopher Damiano of Revere, Salvatore C. Saia of Londonderry, NH, Nicholas D. DeMarco of Revere, Gina M. DeMarco of Manhattan, NY, & Sara J. DeMarco of Marlborough, MA. Dear brother to Marie Fowler & husband Joseph of Tampa Bay, FL & the late Joseph, Antonio & James V. DeMarco. He is also lovingly survived by 2 great grandchildren, Tresor & Gianna & many proud nieces & nephews.

A very special acknowledgement to the entire staff at Mennino Intensive Care Unit – B at Boston Medical Center. For, not only their kind & exemplary skills they showered upon our “Papa Chuck”, but for the almost magical peace of mind rendered to our entire family & extended family. All of you have earned the heartfelt title of “Angel”.

Samuel H. “Sammy” MacDonald

Family & friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Sunday, September 15th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Samuel H. “Sammy” MacDonald, who passed unexpectedly on Friday, September 6th at his residence in Nahant. The Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home, immediately following the visitation, at 2:00 p.m. 

After graduating from Revere High School in 1950, he joined the U.S. Marines in April of 1962 & served until January of 1965. His discharge rank was as a PFC.  Sam lived in the Point of Pines Section (Riverside) of Revere for over 28 years, before moving to Nahant about 10 years ago. He soon would join the work force as a Teamster with the Local 25 of Boston. His last place of employment was as a teamster at New Penn of Billerica. During his work time with New Penn, he was appointed as a Steward for the Local 25. After time as a teamster, he took a position with the City of Revere Public Works Department as a foreman in Parks & Recreation.  As an athlete, he was exemplary and was followed closely by the U.S. Marines as a left-handed pitcher. He also took on a love for the game of tennis & would return after his time overseas & teach both men & women at the local courts here in Revere. Sam also had a close relationship with A.A. of Boston. He was a proud & humble member of the organization and often served as a mentor with new members. He thoroughly enjoyed the interactions within the groups & would have celebrated the 25th year of sobriety this year. Many agree, that when you had Sammy MacDonald as a friend, you had the best of the best- pure faithful & true.

He was the beloved husband of the late Liane R. (Russo) MacDonald & Judith A. “Judy” (Fenno) MacDonald. He was the cherished father to Revere Firefighter Samuel A. MacDonald of Revere, Michelle A. MacDonald of Revere, Lani C. Miraglia of Swampscott & the late Michael C. MacDonald. Devoted grandfather of Milly MacDonald of Revere & Kayla M. Richards of Marblehead. Dear brother of Millicent C.”Tinty” Cerrone & her husband, Rocco J.”Dunnar” Cerrone of Manassas, Virginia, formerly of Revere, Chester C. MacDonald, Jr. & his wife, Sylvia (Hopkins) MacDonald of Natick & the late Margaret “Peggy” Chaffin & the late Elizabeth “Betty” Boatman. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
