Paul D. Bruce, Sr.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial visitation on Tuesday, May 24th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) Revere for Paul D. Bruce, Sr. who passed in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, May 19th at the Melrose – Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following a long illness, he was 83 years old. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Interment will be held privately.

Paul was a native of Everett, where was born to the late David & Mary (Powers) Bruce and he was one of nine children. Paul was educated in Everett Public Schools and was an alumnus of Everett High School, Class of 1957. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years. Paul married his one true love Marie (DiNanno) on May 20th, 1961. The couple remained in Everett where they began their life together. They had two sons, Paul, Jr. & Matthew. In 1970, they moved to Melrose, where they remained. Paul began his career as a Private Investigator & then later in Auto Recovery, Associated Reporting Systems, Inc. in 1978. Paul later retired and his son owns & operates the business today. Paul was a dedicated family man & devoted husband. He and his wife, Marie had a truly beautiful marriage & relationship. They were not only husband & wife but best friends. Paul will forever be remembered as a kind & generous man who was always willing to help someone in any way he could. He had a big heart and always wanted to see the good in people and see them better themselves. Paul lived his life with honor, integrity & respect, every day he demonstrated these character traits.  His love for his family was constant and he was incredibly proud of them.

He is the loving husband of Marie G. (DiNanno) Bruce of Melrose. Cherished father of Paul Bruce, Jr. & Matthew S. Bruce. Treasured grandfather of Paul R. Bruce & his wife Jacqueline, Anthony J. Bruce & his wife Olivia & Victoria E. Bruce. He is the adored great grandfather of Riley, Aiden & Morgan. Dear brother of Joan MacLean, David J. Bruce, Richard Bruce and the late Edward Bruce, Alice Hill, Harold Bruce, Catherine Cordaro & John “Jack” Bruce. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grand nephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 18 Canton St. Stoughton, MA 02072.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
