Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, September 8th, 2014 beginning at 10 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Peter J. Sawtelle, who died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 30th, at 77 years, after being rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston.  The Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 12 Noon, followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery,West Peabody.  Born & raised in Boston’s West End, he came to live in Revere over 58 years ago.  Most of his working career was in the Contracting business as a salesman.  He is the devoted father of Jessica L. Sargent of Amesbury, MA, & the cherished grandfather of Albert M. Sargent of Haverhill & Alex M. Sargent of Amesbury.  He is the dear brother of Victoria L. Lentini of Revere & the late Joseph P. Sawtelle.  He is also lovingly survived by his former wife, Cheryl L. Hazelton of Amesbury, & also two great-grandsons, Anthony M. Lattime-Sargent & Adrian M. Mason-Sargent, & several nieces & nephews.  He was the son of the late, Joseph & Mary H. (Othmer) Sawtelle.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to your favorite charity.

Monday, September 8th, 2014 at 12 Noon in the Funeral Home.

Interment

Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
