Philomena E. (Paglucca) Mullen

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 25th beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE for Philomena E. (Paglucca) Mullen who died following a lengthy illness on Thursday evening, January 19th at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Visiting hours will conclude at 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 12:00 p.m., followed by interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Born in Winthrop, she lived in East Boston, all of her life. She was a 1946 alumna of E.B. High School. After her children were grown, she worked within the Boston School System, as a “Lunch Mother” in the East Boston District for about 10 years. She was definitely a stay at home all through the formative years, giving her children and grandchildren the best optimum care.

She is the beloved wife of 65 years to William G. Mullen. She is the devoted mother to Joyce A. Hartman & her husband Jonathan A. Hartman of Oak Island, Revere, William G. Mullen, Jr. & his wife Ann Marie of Middleborough, Ma. & James W. Mullen of East Boston. She is the cherished grandmother to Taylor & Lisa Mullen both of Middleborough & Samantha A. & Nicholas A. Hartman, both of Revere. She is the dear sister to Angelo Paglucca of East Boston, Anna Coviello & her husband Frederick of Whitman, Ma. & the late Mary Page, Julia Puzzo, Phylly, Angelina, Vincenza, Michael & Alfred Paglucca. She is also lovingly survived by her sister-in-law, Vera Paglucca of East Boston, many faithful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
