Richard G. “Ricky” Danells

Funeral Services & interment were held privately for Richard G. “Ricky” Danells who died unexpectedly on Monday, December 5th at his home in Boxford, he was 65 years old.

Ricky was born in Melrose on June 13th, 1957 to his parents Donald & Stella Faye (Harmed) Danells. He was one of four children. He was raised & educated in Salem and attended Salem Public Schools. During his youth Ricky was an avid ice hockey & baseball player. His passion for sports carried throughout high school, where he was a proud alumnus of Salem High School Class of 1975. His athleticism & passion for sports stayed with him throughout his life. He continued to play fast pitch softball and golfed as much as he could. Ricky spent all his working career as a machinist. He worked for various companies before securing a position at Little Enterprises, where his career spanned over 30 years. Ricky was forced to retire due to his declining health. He spent most of his life in Salem & Ipswich, then in 2017 moved in with his daughter in Boxford. His greatest love in life was that of his twin daughters, Taylor & Brianna, although his grandchildren took over his heart when they all came into his life. They gave him the most pleasure & joy. He will be forever missed by al of his family, extended family & many friends.

He is the beloved son of Stella Faye Danells of Salem & the late Donald Danells. The loving father of Taylor A. Whitcomb & husband Jon Paul of Hamilton and Brianna M. Kamruzzaman & husband Minto of Boxford. The cherished & proud grandfather of Ryann Whitcomb, Ethan Kamruzzaman, Landyn Whitcomb, Preston Kamruzzaman, & Dylan Kamruzzaman. The dear brother of Dr. Elizabeth Chin of Mattapoisett, Margaret Jubb & husband James of Hampton, NH., & the late Donald D. Danells. Also lovingly survived by many nieces, & nephew.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
