Robert E. “Bob” Caponigro

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday December 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, caponigro-robertHome for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), REVERE for Robert E. Caponigro, who died unexpectedly on Monday evening, November 28th at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. REVERE at 11:00 a.m.

Born in Winthrop, he attended Winthrop schools and was a 1968 alumnus of Winthrop High School. “Bob” spent almost 30 years with”Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture Showcase of Saugus” as a salesman & popular personality. In the 1970’s during the Vietnam Era, “Bob” served in the Army National Guard.

He was the son of the late George & Sabatina”Sally” (Rella) Caponigro. He is the cherished brother of George Caponigro Jr. & his wife, Julie of Canton, Georgia & the late Richard J. Caponigro. He is the beloved nephew of Ann M. Gallucci & her late husband, Victor of Derry, N.H., Sabino Rella & his wife Judith of San Diego, Calif. & Louis Rella of Winthrop. He is the devoted uncle to Ann Marie Tinkham & her husband, Gerald A. of Salisbury, Ma., James J.Caponigro of Newburyport, R. Michael Caponigro & his wife, Danielle of Newburyport, Christine Cantrell & her husband, Jeff of Canton, Georgia, Sarah Williams of Woodstock, Georgia, Nicholas, Alexander & Gregory Caponigro, all of Amesbury, Ma. He is also lovingly survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen M. Wise of Salisbury, Ma. & many faithful grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Interment will be in the family lot at Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop (the Old Cemetery).

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
