Roberta M. “Bobbie” (Epstein) Russo

Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE on Saturday, April 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Roberta M. “Bobbie” (Epstein) Russo, who passed away on March 23rd at the Cape Cod Hospital. She was 86 years old. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Barney & Catherine (Goldberg) Epstein. She was raised in the Dorchester & Mattapan Areas and was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Dorchester, Class of 1953. She attended and graduated from that high school at a time when the school was exclusive to girls only. After graduation, Bobbie soon entered the workforce and worked as a bookkeeper for United Corrugated Boxes for several years. Soon after, Bobbie met Vito Michael “Sonny” Russo and they married in 1962. The couple had their one and only daughter, Marisa, and resided in Boston’s Back Bay until moving to Revere in 1966 where they remained. As her daughter got older, Bobbie returned to the workforce and held various positions within retail. Bobbie was always impeccably dressed, from head to toe, sparing no detail. Her hair was always styled to perfection and her nails were meticulously maintained and polished by her own expert care. Bobbie also worked as a receptionist for the Law Offices of Venna, McNamara, Truelove & Leahy. Bobbie had a love for music and dancing, her favorite being the era of Motown and Disco. Bobbie and her husband enjoyed every Saturday Night together with their friends, dancing and enjoying each other’s company. She lost her dear husband, Vito Michael “Sonny” Russo on January 1, 2016, and became even closer to her daughter, and even though the family was small, they always had each other, and Bobbie loved her role as grandmother and great grandmother. She also loved spending time at Revere Beach enjoying the sun and, at times, taking in the nightlife there as well.

She is the beloved wife of the late Vito Michael “Sonny” Russo. She is the devoted mother of Marisa Russo of Revere and the cherished grandmother of Bradley Michael Yochum & his wife Catie Yochum of Harwich and Joseph Kyle Yochum of Boston’s North End and she is the adored great grandmother of Janeese Anna Yochum. Dear sister-in-law of Lydia DiSisto of Revere, Anna DeMauro of Winthrop, Charles C. Russo & wife Darlene of Glen, NH & the late Mary Longo, Alphonse C. Russo, Joseph Russo, Michael Russo, Salvatore Russo & I. James Russo. She is also lovingly survived by her former son-in-law Joseph P. Yochum & his wife Sandra “Sandy” of Mashpee & by many caring nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
