Rosalie (LaRosa) Cunningham

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, November 1st in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., for Rosalie (LaRosa) Cunningham, who passed following a lengthy illness at her West Peabody residence on Saturday, October 27th. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, November 2nd at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., REVERE at 10:30 a.m. and immediately followed with interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.

Born & raised in South Boston, Rosalie was an alumna of South Boston High School, Class of 1967. She married James P. Cunningham, Jr. in 1975 and moved to Revere, where the family lived until moving to West Peabody in June, 2018. She worked for the Massachusetts General Hospital at their Revere Beach satellite facility for over 12 years. She was a Senior Receptionist-Secretary for that time, retiring in 2014. In spite of a 30-year battle with pulmonary cardiac disease, she forged on to be the best Mom, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, Friend & devoted cousin. She was a devout Roman Catholic, depending heavily upon her faith for support and strength.

Besides her beloved husband of 43 years, James P. Cunningham, Jr., She is the cherished mother of Lisa M. Hess & her husband, Erik of Plymouth & James P. Cunningham, III & his wife, Stephanie Lee of West Peabody. She is the adored grandmother to Bensen V. Hess, Evelyn A. Hess, James P. Cunningham, IV, Ryan J. & Kyle J. Cunningham. She is also the dear sister to Joseph V. LaRosa & his wife, Louise of Taunton & Vincent LaRosa of Bridgewater, New Hampshire. She was the proud daughter of the late Alfonzo & Angelina A. (Blonde) LaRosa and is also lovingly survived by several nieces & nephews.

    I am so sorry to hear of Rosalie’s passing. The death of a loved one is the most difficult of life’s experiences. I will say Mass for Rosalie, your and your family. I am presently in Florida. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
