A funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, October 3rd, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, for Rose M. (Archidiacona) Penta, who died on Sunday, September 28 at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital, following a brief illness, at 89 years.  Born in Revere, she attended school there & graduated from Revere High School, Class of 1943.  Rose lived in Revere until moving to East Boston in 1947, where she remained until moving to Lynn with her daughter in the late 1990’s.  She worked as an assembler for the former Leonard Silver Company of East Boston, & as a clerk for the form Colt Press of East Boston.  She was a member of the East Boston & Revere Senior Centers.  Her husband, Saverio “Sammy” Penta, Jr. died in April of 1991.  She is the devoted mother of: Richard S. Penta of Fairfax, Virginia, Sallyann Penta of Lynn, & Sharon M. Howard & her husband Lawrence of Venice, Florida.  She is the cherished grandmother of Christine E. Toavs & her husband Tory of Fairfax, VA, Daniel R. Penta & his wife Erin Regan of Queens, New York.  She is also lovingly survived by her 2 great-grandchildren, Viviana & Jude, & her former faithful daughter-in-law, Nancy Penta of Fairfax, VA.  She was the dear sister of the late: Frederick Colagero, Jenny Pisano, & Christina Principe.  Many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews survive her.  Interment was private.  Remembrances may be made to: Massachusetts General Hospital, 100 Cambridge St., Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114, ATTN: Laura Ogonowski, Development Office, or online at: giving.massgeneral.org.  Your gift will help support the work of Dr. Paul Huang, Rose’s person physician.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
