Santo J. “Sonny” Speranza

Services & interment have been held for Santo J. Speranza, formerly of Revere & presently of Topsfield, who died unexpectedly at the Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley in Haverhill on Wednesday, May 3rd.

Born & raised in Chelsea, he attended Chelsea schools. He & his family moved to Revere when he was a young man. He remained in Revere until 1977, when he and his family moved to Topsfield. As a young boy, he apprenticed under his father in the fine art of plastering, an art that has somewhat been replaced by high-tech. substitutions. However, he did have a 25 year career with General Electric Company as a Master Mechanic, working within the Lynn, Everett & Medford plants. Since his beloved wife, Irene F. (Langis) Speranza, died on August 9, 2002, he became the Patriarch plus, taking on the many & varied duties of his wife. A gentleman’s gentleman, he lovingly watched over his family with tenderness & enthusiasm.

He is the devoted father of Paula J. Monaco & her fiancée Arthur Davis & Robert A. Speranza, all of Topsfield & the late John M. “Sonny” Speranza. He is the cherished Grandfather of Steven Speranza of Tyngsboro, John Speranza & his wife Nikki of Everett, Paul Monaco of Macedonia, Ohio, Gina Monaco-Lindburg & her husband Nathan Lindberg of Plastow, N.H. and the late Michael Speranza. He is the dear brother of Rose M. Lepore of Revere and the late Marion Abate, Marie Jacobs, Josephine Gentile, John Speranza & Peter J. Speranza & his faithful long-time friend, Frantz LaVaud of Newton, NH. He is also lovingly survived by his daughter in law Janet Speranza & three great grandchildren; Isabella, Stephania & Jack. Interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
