Sheila D. (Heighton) DeNicola
Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, August 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt.107) Revere, for Sheila D. (Heighton) DeNicola, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10th at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, she was 70 years old. Following the visitation, A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately.
Sheila was born & raised in Winthrop. She was an alumna of Winthrop High School, Class of 1968. She furthered her education by attending Newbury College where she earned an associate degree in Business. She was married to her husband, Robert DeNicola in 1970, and the couple settled in Revere where together they raised their only son, Robert, Jr. Sheila worked at Bank Boston and then she later took a position at the Revere Journal while raising her son. She would eventually take a position with the Mass Department of Transportation, and she worked there as a Business Management Specialist. Her career there spanned 25 years. In her spare time Sheila, along with her husband and son, where “Die Hard” Patriots fans and proud season ticket holders since 1993. Sheila had a profound love for her Patriots. She was also a member of a bowling and bocci league. She will be forever missed by her family & friends.
She is the devoted wife of 51 years to Robert C. “Bob” DeNicola, Sr. of Revere. Proud & loving mother of Robert C. DeNicola, Jr., of Portsmouth, NH. Beloved daughter of the late Clark I., Sr. & Lillian R. (VanBuskirk) Heighton. Dear sister of the late Clark I. “Poofy” Heighton, Jr. & his surviving wife Marylou Heighton of Winthrop. She is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

I’m so sorry to hear of Sheila’s passing. You both were two of my dad’s longest, closest and best friends. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there on Saturday to see you all and pay my respects. A donation will be made in Sheila’s name to the ASA.

I have so many precious memories growing up as Auntie let me stay with her many weekends and summers so I could see friends I used to hang with. Auntie would mother hen me to pieces, but it was ok because she was Auntie….Auntie I know we havent seen each other lately but I will always hold the memories of being your flower girl when you married Uncle to you mother henning me to meeting my children and experiencing loss together.
