Sophia M. “Sofie” (Cianciulli) Winn

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 15th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Winn, SophieHome for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Sophia M. (Cianciulli) Winn who died at the residence of her daughter in Palm Coast, Florida on Wednesday, December 9th, following a lengthy illness. Her funeral will be conducted form the funeral home on Wednesday, December 16th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 150 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00 a.m.

Born in Boston, she lived in Revere her entire life. “Sofie” was gifted at a young age with an appreciation for all things connected to the arts. She began sewing as a young girl, & was soon creating dresses. Her real forte, seemed to be in formal wear, such as wedding ensembles. Soon, she would hang a shingle on her home, “SOFIA WINN–DRESSMAKER” and, soon she would become infamous, creating & designing some of the most unique and elegant wedding gowns, in the Commonwealth, Sofie did this from the early 1950s through 2000, when she sold her Revere home and moved to her son, Dr. Clifford’s home in Billerica. About one year ago, she would experience, her last moving trek, to Palm Coast, Florida, the home of her daughter, Heidi. Sofie was indeed, ahead of her times, i.e. she was non-judgmental, accepting, and certainly possessed an abundance of energy. She related well to the younger generation, particularly to her grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

She was the wife of the late, Revere Patrolman & Deputy Sheriff for Suffolk, County, Harold E. Winn, Jr. She is the cherished mother of Bruce A. Winn & his wife, Jane of Pittsfield, Scott A. Winn & his wife, Denise of Methuen, Heidi A. Shipley & her husband, Marvin of Palm Coast, Harold T. Winn & his wife, Elysa of Tewksbury & Dr. Clifford M. Winn & his wife, Vanessa of Portsmouth, NH. She is the dear sister of Rita Flanagan of Lynn & the late, Salvatore F. “Sonny’ Cianciulli & Martin L. Cianciulli. Also lovingly survived by 14 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Milded E. “Casey” Cianciulli of Peabody, Miriam Cianciulli of Malden, the Honorable Judith Flanagan-Kennedy of Lynn, her daughter-in-law Patricia (Long) Winn of Billerica & many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grand-nephews. To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
