Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013 from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Sylvia (Macos) Daikos, who died after a valiant struggle with cancer on Monday, July 1st at her Revere home, at 69 years.  The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born & raised in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, she moved as a young girl to Somerville where she attended schools & was a 1961 alumna of Somerville High School.  She started her banking career with Bay Bank of Somerville, & in 1980, took a position with Century Bank of Somerville where she remained until retiring in 2008.  Later in 2008, Sylvia returned to Century as a Senior Consultant in the Business Development Office.  Sylvia began her banking career at entry level as a teller & rose to the ranks of one of the most popular female Bank Executives within the Middlesex & Suffolk Counties.  She was a dynamic & magnetic personality, sharing her expertise & guidance to many, many clients over the past thirty-three years.  She is the adored & beloved wife of Paul A. Daikos.  She is the dear Sister of: Angel Ciano & her husband Anthony Ciano of Revere, & James Macos of Saco, Maine.  She is the Cherished Aunt of: Anthony Ciano & his wife Corinne, & Giselle Ciano-Johnston & her husband Richard, all of Revere.  She is also lovingly survived by her two grand-nieces, Ally & Sydney Ciano.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
