Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 7th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Theresa L. (Gargano) Olivero, who died on Wednesday, October 2nd at Bear Hill Nursing Center of Stoneham, unexpectedly following a brief illness, at 98 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, October 8th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Church of the Incarnation, Upham St., Melrose, at 10 a.m.  Mrs. Olivero was born, raised & educated in Chelsea & lived all of her life there.  Her unusual but wondrous strength allowed her to live a most alert & productive life until a fall, four weeks ago, brought her to the hospital & her final illness.  Her working career began when she was, but, a teenager in Chelsea, at Walton Shoe Co., the former WT Grant Dept. Store, Berman’s Apparel, the Chelsea Memorial Hospital, & finally at Massachusetts General Hospital, for 12 years, from whence she retired.  She was married to Vincent J. Olivero for over 70 years, until his death in January of 2008.  She is the adored mother of Vincent J. Olivero, Jr. & his wife Maureen of Melrose, Frederick J. Olivero & his wife Donna of Billerica, Robert Olivero & his wife Kathleen A. of Tewksbury, & Virginia Browne & her husband Leo of Saugus.  She is the dear sister to Clara Mongiello of Medford & John Gargano of Saugus.  She was the mother-in-law of the late Diane E. Olivero.  She is also lovingly survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  Interment is in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
