Family & friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday, February 9th at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. Revere for Thomas R. “Sugar” Scicchitani, who died on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Lahey Clinic of Burlington following a long illness, he was 86 years old. Tom, or better known as “Sugar” was born & raised in Revere & attended Revere Schools. He was an Alumnus of Revere High School Class of 1946. After High School, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He provided service to his country for several years, and was Honorably Discharged in 1949. Shortly after he returned home, he would marry Leona “Lee” Pearlman. The couple remained in Revere, where they began their family and would raise them. He later enrolled in Wentworth Institute of Technology for 2 years studying in the “Machinist Program”. After working several jobs, he gained experience and mastered his craft and began to work at The Boston Globe. A career that spanned well over 30 years of service and he worked with great pride. Sugar was well known as a dedicated family man & as well as hardworking. He is the devoted husband of Leona “Lee” (Pearlman) Scicchitani of Revere with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with. He is the loving father of Stephen Scicchitani & his wife Nancy of Acton, Amy Scicchitani of Reading & Jody Scicchitani of Revere. He is the cherished grandfather of Anthony Fiorita, Alexa Fiorita, Stephen Ward, Alana Fiorita & Emma Scicchitani. He is the beloved brother of Gloria Johnson of IL, Alice Fitch of VA and the late Victor Scicchitani, Catherine O’Dell & Evelyn Mattarocchia. Interment will be held privately. Late U.S. Coast Guard Veteran, Past member of the Soccorso Club & the Joseph l. Mottola VFW Post 4524. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: A.L.S. Association Massachusetts Chapter, 315 Norwood Park S., 1st Floor Norwood, MA  02062.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
