Vincent J. Puorro

Funeral Services & Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will be held privately due to the current COVID–19 (Coronavirus) pandemic for Vincent J. Puorro, who died on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness of COVID-19. Vincent was 77 years old.

Vincent was born on October 16, 1942 in Revere to his parents Pellegrino & Emma Puorro. He was raised & educated in Revere. As a young child, Vincent became afflicted from Polio, he would face many challenges as he would navigate through his life. Vincent had a wonderful attitude and a strong will. He was a proud Alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1961. Vincent also made certain that he would obtain a driver’s license. After he graduated, he began to work at the First National Bank as a courier. He worked at the bank for many years before taking a position with the Salvation Army. He wore many hats, doing anything they would ask of him. Vincent was forced to stop working due to his failing health. Anyone one who knew Vincent, knew how he had an incredible fascination with remembering dates & timelines of historical events. Vincent was very proud that he lived independently until he could no longer care for himself. Anyone who knew him, loved him & he made many friends along the way.

He is the beloved son of the late Pellegrino & Emma (Venezia) Puorro. He is the cherished cousin & godfather of Glen McLaughlin of Wilmington & Valarie J. Hanlon of Saugus and her children, Jamie C. Creehan & her husband Neil of Middleton & Torin W. Hanlon & his wife Julianna of Melrose. He is also lovingly survived by many loving aunts, uncles & cousins, living & deceased.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
