Vincent J. “Snooky” Corso

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 28th beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. Revere at 11:00 a.m. for Vincent J. “Snooky” Corso, who died on Tuesday, December 18th at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers after a brief illness, he was 95 years old. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born, raised & educated in Revere, Snooky was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1942. Shortly after graduation, like many of the brave men of his generation, he wanted to defend his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army, days before the invasion of Pearl Harbor. He received medals & accommodations such as the African Middle East Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Victory Medal, Purple Heart, Silver Star & an award from the Italian Ministry for his role of Liberating the Italian Citizens. He served his country with great pride and honor, and is in that elite group aptly named the “The greatest generation”. When he was discharged, he rose to the rank of Sargent. When he returned home he began to work at Fish Pier in Boston for the First National Stores. He held various positions while he was employed there. He later went onto become a court officer for the Boston Municipal Courts, where he would become in charge of handling the “Grand Jurys”. He worked for the B.M.C. for over 20 years. On November 12, 1950 he would marry Margaret Kapamagian, a marriage that would span 67 wonderful years together. The couple enjoyed traveling together and later wintering in Del Rey Beach, Florida.  Snooky always stayed active, he was involved in many clubs and organizations. He was a late member of the Knights of Columbus Council 179, Revere Sons of Italy- Giuseppe Manzini Lodge & the I.T.A.M. Post in Revere. He had a great love and appreciation for baseball & loved the Boston Red Sox. Back in his earlier years, he held try outs for a minor league team. Although he didn’t make it, instead he leant his passion and knowledge for the game to help kids learn the game of baseball. For over 10 years, Snooky was committed to coaching little league, he would skipper the Orioles. There are many former kids that he coached and helped that would still remember how fun he made the game. In his golden years, to stay active, he would golf as often as he could.

He is the loving & devoted husband of Margaret H. (Kapamagian) Corso of Revere. The beloved brother of the late Augustus A. “Gus” Corso, Anna M. Aucella, Concetta O’Leary & Gerald & Joseph Corso. Dear brother in law of the late Mario Kapamagian, Alexander Kapamagian & Louise Barthelmess. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
