His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23rd at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church ( corner of Beach ST. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 10:30 a.m.. Born in Medford, he attended St. Clement’s School & High School and was a 1944 alumnus of St. Clement’s High School. In November of 1944, he joined the United States Navy and served until July of 1946 and discharged as a Seaman 1st Class. He began his career with the Revere Fire Department in 1955 and served the City of Revere for over 35 years, retiring in 1990. Like so many of his fellow colleagues, “Vin” represented a quickly vanishing generation of Men, who dedicated their lives to their God, their family and to their chosen vocation in life. It is a well known and respected fact , that the Revere Fire Department displayed at all times, a unique bondness and quiet dignity about the execution of their duties, especially in times of crisis. “Vin” was all about, quiet dignity and self-less energy in his chosen field. On many occasions, within the City of Revere, he along with his colleagues, were present to quell the tragedy of fire. Most often, when firefighters leave their homes, they have no idea as too when or if they will return! Knowing this is true testimony of the character and integrity of the individual, at hand. After retirement from the Fire Department, “Vin” worked for the well respected and loved Giannino Family, working their greenhouses and as a delivery person. His superb knowledge of geography of the City of Revere made him an invaluable asset to the Giannino Family and their greenhouses. He leaves his beloved & faithful wife of 62 years, Mary Theresa “Tess” (Cunningham) Monagle. He is the devoted father of, William V. Monagle, Jr. & his wife Marji of Lynnfield, Neal P. Monagle of Medford, Gavin P. Monagle & his wife, Janet of Middleton and Amy T. Monagle of Revere. He is the cherished grandfather of, Patrick W. Monagle & his wife Marissa of Reading, Bridget A. He is also lovingly survived by his great grand daughter, Grace E. Monagle of Reading, his cousin , Charles McLaughlin & his wife, Mary of Milton and 54 treasured nieces and nephews.
