Yolanda “Viola” (Penta) Ferullo

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 5th, 2014 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Yolanda “Viola” (Penta) Ferullo, who died unexpectedly at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home on Thursday, October 2nd, at 88 years.  Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday, October 6th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m.  Born & raised in East Boston, she lived there all of her life until moving to Winthrop eleven years ago.  “Yola” spent the majority of her adult life caring for family.  Parents, siblings, & her late husband were all her care & devotion.  While caring for her charges, she maintained an “open house” to her entire extended family, friends, neighbors, & her childrens’ friends.  Her London St. home in East Boston was a beacon of hospitality for over seventy years.  No one person ever left “Yola’s” home without enjoying her home-cooking or her baked goodies.  Her personality was indeed humble & loving.  Her husband, Pasquale “Pat” C. Ferullo, died in April of 2003.  She is the devoted mother of: Anthony V. Ferullo & his wife “Nikki” Louise Ferullo of Lynnfield, & Patricia J. MacQueen & her husband Giles E. of Winthrop, with whom Yola made her home for the past eleven years.  She is the cherished grandmother of: Anthony P. Ferullo & wife Maria of Danvers, Dr. Shawn M. Ferullo & wife Karen of Winthrop, & Mark J. Ferullo of Lynnfield.  She is also lovingly survived by her four great-grandchildren: Gabriela A., Nicholas S., Kayla M. & Olivia M. Ferullo.  She was the dear sister of the late: Carmella Copozzi, Saverio “Sammy,” Salvatore “Salvy” & Arthur Penta.  Many faithful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews also survive her.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Elder Service Plan (ESP), Lewis Mall, 225 Sumner St., East Boston, MA 02128, Attention: Tina Smith.

    Dear Patty & Family,
We are so sad to learn that your dear mother has passed away. She was such a beautiful loving lady to every person who met her. We have so many warm memories of her from London St and seeing her down the square at Liberty’s or Lacey’s and at the Porter St. fruit stands. Her kindness and loving spirit was her entire presence. She was very kind to our mother Lizzie, we will not forget her.
To you & yours, our sincere condolences
    Donna & Christine Letteriello

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
