Angelo A. “Sonny” Todisco
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, September 8th, in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere from 4 to 8 p.m., for Angelo A. “Sonny” Todisco, who died following a lengthy illness at Beth Israel – Deaconess Hospital , Boston on Wednesday, September 4th. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, September 9th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) , Revere at 10:30 a.m.. “Sonny” was born in Boston’s North End & came to live in Revere at the age of One year old. He attended Revere schools & was a 1948 alumnus of Revere High School. He entered the Military in 1951 & completing his term with the Army Reserve in January of 1957. He returned to school & secured his Insurance Adjusters License . For many years he worked at Wonderland Dog Track & also in the construction field. In 1978, he joined forces with Mr. William J. DePiano, Jr. & formed DePiano & Todisco Adjusters, INC. and was the Principal of the corporation, specializing in all types of insurance claims and losses. Theirs’ was a thirty plus year partnership & unique friendship. Their friendship has brought not only themselves but their families into an extended family scenerio. “Sonny” did maintain an energetic & interesting schedule, with the many political, fraternal & community organizations, he supported. He was a member of the American Legion Post #61, the Revere Soccorso Club, the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose, the Revere Knights of Columbus-Council #179, & Local #2168 of the Carpenters Union. He was also past President & Member of the Revere Kiwanis Club & Revere Chamber of Commerce. Two of his fondest associations, was with the Revere Planning Board & his seat with the Board of Directors at the Revere federal Savings & Loan association. His participation was always consistent, humble & industrious. He loved to be busy & useful and in spite of his long battle with failing health he maintained that enthusiasm to the end. For the past eight years, since declining health, his beloved & faithful wife of 62 years, June J. (Catalucci) Todisco, has been his constant companion. Their 62nd wedding anniversary is the day of his funeral (September 9th). However you deem to acknowledge this wonderful coincidence or gentle phenomena, it brings comfort. Sonny is the proud & devoted father to, Donna M. DiGiovanni & her husband Anthony of Peabody and Revere Fire Captain Thomas S. Todisco & his wife Joanne E. of Revere. He is also the cherished grandfather of Steven M. Todisco & His wife Sarah of Georgetown, Bryan T, Todisco of Revere, Danielle J. Kempe and her husband David of Quincy and David A, DiGiovanni of Peabody & Lowell. He is also the very dear brother to Phyllis M. Todisco & her partner, John F. Murphy of Revere. Sonny was also the brother in law of the late Roberta L. “Bobbie” Catalucci. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Dear June and family, Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of Sonny. He was an outstanding man whom we admired and respected for his family values and principles. He will be greatly missed.He is at peace now in the arms of our Lord. God bless you all at this sad and difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
