Lena G. “Lee” Pallozzi
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Lena G. “Lee” Pallozzi, who died following a brief illness on Saturday, June 7th at the Southeast Health Care Center of Easton, MA, at 91 years. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 11th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph/St. Lazarus Church, Orient Heights, East Boston at 11 a.m. Born in Clinton, MA on November 11th, 1922, she was the fourth child of Ralph & Josephine (Tarullo) Pallozzi. The family moved to East Boston in 1934, which “Lee” proudly called her home ever since. She began working part-time in the Filene’s Department Store of Downtown Boston as a Christmas wrapper & bundle person. She was rehired in 1940 & remained at Filene’s for sixty years. She was for many years the Executive Accounts Manager within the Credit Department. Her awards & citations from Filene’s are many. Filene’s was a second home to Lee, where she nurtured many, many friendships & close relationships. Her stories of her time at Filene’s were rich & entertaining, from meeting Elizabeth Taylor & Cary Grant, to the glamour of the patrons of the “French Shop,” to the hustle & bustle of Christmas, & sometimes even the chaos of the infamous Filene’s Basement. Not satisfied to sit at home, when Lee retired in her mid-70’s, she volunteered at the former St. Mary-Star of the Sea Parish School, founding their library. After the closure of St. Mary’s, she began a more intense time with the East Boston Central High School volunteering. Lee was a devotee of the former St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, & more recently, St. Joseph’s/St. Lazarus Church of Orient Heights. Lee was an avid reader, a movie buff, & loved theatre, ballet & opera. She traveled to Europe several times, including Greece, Italy, France & Hungary, & took many a road trip in her V-8 coupes to visit her friends in New Hampshire, Florida, & Cape Cod. Lee was a beloved member of her family – a loving daughter, loyal sister, & generous aunt. Her wit & humor will be long remembered & sorely missed, not only by her family, but by her large & loving extended family. She is the cherished sister of Margaret Ann Smith of Waltham, & the late: Dora Impeduglia, Victor Pallozzi, & Anna Dolan. She is the devoted aunt to Marianne Principe of York, Maine, Barbara A. Buccigross & her husband James of South Easton, MA, & Lisa M. Smith of Sudbury, MA. She is also lovingly survived by 5 great-grand-nieces & nephews, & the large extended members of the DelMuto, Corea, Ciampa, McLean & Laurano families. Interment will be in the family lot in St. John Cemetery of Lancaster, MA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: East Boston Central Catholic High School, 69 London St., East Boston, MA 02128.
