John P. Fiore
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, July 19th, 2014 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for John P. Fiore, who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15th at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after being stricken at his Revere residence, at 92 years. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday following the visitation, with a funeral mass at 12 Noon, celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Born & raised in Revere, he was a 1939 alumnus of Revere High School. Shortly thereafter, he began working as a young man for the H.P. Hood & Sons Milk Co., where he remained for his entire working career. In those days, back in the 1940’s, you began in the “Trenches” & worked your way up the sometimes rickety ladder, until reaching the comfort of becoming supervisory & managerial level. Such was John Fiore’s trek at H.P. Hood & sons for over 48 years of service. During high school, he met the love of his life, Hilda M. (Genovese). They married in 1945 & she passed on October 27th, 2010. Sometimes after the passing of a “unique” couple, such as John & Hilda, the accolades, adjectives, adverbs, etc. are rather mundane. However, in their case, their true legacy lies in the magnanimous gift they both possessed; making everyone (family, friends, colleagues, & extended family) enjoy a truly singular & extraordinary relationship with “just” them. John was a past President & long-time member of the Holy Name Society of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere. Together, with his dear 94 year old brother-in-law, Anthony “Nick” Nicodemi, were exemplary devotees of the Holy Name Society, as well as active supporters of all Parish activities. John is lovingly survived by many faithful & dedicated nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces & great-grand-nephews. He was the beloved brother of the late: Rita M. Gallo, Dora Sherriff, Anne Hopkins, Edythe McQuade, Florence Carbone, James V. Fiore, Frank & Louis Fiore. He is also the dear brother-in-law to Anthony “Nick” Nicodemi of Oak Park, California, & Virginia A. Fiore of Revere. His late parents, Luigi & Alfonsina (Cantillo) Fiore, came to Revere over 95 years ago. John P. Fiore is the last of his large family of siblings. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: Italian Home for Children, 1125 Centre St., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.

I am so sorry for you loss. May you find comfort from your memories as well as the Bible. One question many people ask is “Why do we die?” And the answer to that question is found at Romans 5:12. Because Adam sinned we are all imperfect and die. Although we die there is hope for the dead and even those living. John 5:28,29 explains that the dead will be resurrected. We will have the chance to see our dead loved ones. Also Revelation 21:4 says that death, amongst other things, will be no more. And in Psalm 37:11,29 we see how we will all enjoy life on earth in a peaceful paradise. I hope that scriptures can be comforting to all in grief.
