James E. Lewis
Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, December 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE for James E. Lewis, who passed following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, November 30th at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3rd at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. and Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 10:30 am.
Born in Somerville, he was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from Medford High School in 1956. In August of 1961, he entered in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1962 as a PVT, E-2. Mr Lewis began his 25 year career General Electric of Lynn as an Aircraft Parts Inspector. Due to declining health, he was forced to accept a position within the Maintenance Division at G.E. to complete his twenty-five year career.
He is the beloved husband of 44 years Suzanne A. (Mathews) Lewis. They settled in Revere in October of 1973, after their marriage. He is the devoted father of Daniel J. Lewis of Revere & Edward J. Lewis and his wife Daniela of Woburn. He is the cherished grandfather of Erin A. and Matthew C. Lewis, both of Revere and had the anticipated joy of expecting his third grandchild in January 2017. He is the dear brother of Rose Baiardi and Terry Micelli, both of Marshfield. He is also the loving brother-in-law of Edward J. Mathews of Stoneham, Robert J. Mathews of Gilford, NH & Richard T. Mathews of Lynnfield. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
