Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday February 25th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St.Anthony of Padua Church, 38 Oakes St., Everett at 10:00 a.m.
Born & raised in Hyde Park, the family came to live in Everett for many years, before recently moving to Malden. Carmella was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt & great-grandmother. Family always came first & foremost, as she was the last of her family of five and the Matriarch of the Vatalaro Famiy. She held positions as a salesclerk for the former Bradlee’s Department Store of Medford & prior to that time, she had a working career for the Sweetheart Products of Chelsea.
She was the wife of the late Anthony Scialoia, who passed in 1981. She was the devoted mother to Ann M. Gorrell & her husband Jack of Malden, Christine M. Leary of Revere, Susan A. Scialoia of Malden & Richard A. Scialoia & his wife Susan of Lafayette, LA. She is also lovingly survived by ten (10) grandchildren, nine (9) great-grandchildren & her former faithful son-in-law David Leary, Sr. of Lynn. Many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews also survive her. She was the dear sister of the late Domenic Vatalaro, Mary Monopoli, Joseph Vatalaro & Doris Donahue. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
My condolences to my cousins. Auntie was such a strong vibrant person. She loved to laugh and tease everyone she met. I will miss her immensely.
Love cousin Donna
