Catherine C. “Peggy” (Flaherty) Finn

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. for Catherine C. “Peggy” (Flaherty) Finn, in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere.  Peggy died unexpectedly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Sunday, May 26th, at 88 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, May 30th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph/St. Lazarus Church, Orient Heights, East Boston, at 10 a.m.  Born in Revere, she lived in the Orient Heights section of East Boston since the age of 6 & remained there until her death.  She attended Catholic schools & was a 1942 alumna of Fitton Catholic High, East Boston.  She entered the United States Navy in November of 1944 & served until May of 1946, as a Wave, & she is a World War II Veteran.  Early in her working career, Peggy worked for New England Tel & Tel.  In 1967, she began her career with the Boston Police District 1, & retired in 1987 as an administrative assistant.  Peggy was the quintessence of personality.  She could work with anyone, join any organization, & always win the hearts of all.  Her passions were her loving family & her Catholic Faith.  She was devout but never pretentious.  She was born into a strong & loving Irish family.  Her faith & her remarkable sense of humor carried her through life’s disappointments, tragedies, & the deaths of her husband, her dear son, & her siblings.  Her patronage to St. Jude is legendary.  For many years, she & her dear sister, Mary F. “Molly” Boudette, continued their devotion to St. Jude, attending the Monday AM service at Immaculate Conception Church, Revere.  There & everywhere, she is remembered with strength & dignity.  Peggy’s husband, Edwin M. Finn, died in February of 1994.  She is the Cherished Mother of Brian C. Finn & his wife Judith, & Boston Police Department Detective Sergeant Kevin P. Finn & his wife Renee, all of Winthrop.  She was also the Mother of the late James M. Finn, who died in September of 2007.  She is the adored Grandmother to: Kevin P. Finn, Jr. of East Boston, Meaghan L., Janelle C., & Christopher B. Finn, all of Winthrop, & Caitlin M. Finn of Revere.  She is the Dear Sister of Mary F. “Molly” Boudette & her late husband, Robert C. of Revere, & the late: Sabina C. Lewis, Lorraine T. Alioto, Helen F. Burns, Adele M. Duffy, Lawrence M. Flaherty, & Ernest F. Alioto.  She is also lovingly survived by her daughter-in-law, Julia M. Finn of Revere, five nephews & one niece.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, P.O. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Anna M. “Anna Banana” (Santilli) Sasser, who died on Thursday, May 23rd at Hammersmith House in Saugus following a long illness, at 79 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, May 29th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 11 a.m.  Born & raised in Everett, she attended Everett schools & graduated Everett High School, Class of 1952.  In 1954, she married Edwin L. “Roy” Sasser, & the couple moved to Revere.  “Roy” died in June of 1999.  “Anna Banana,” as she was affectionately known to her family, was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, & Aunt.  She is the devoted mother to: Derek V. Sasser & his wife Nina of Revere, Donna L. D’Addario & her husband Albert of Saugus, Linda A. Sabina & her husband John of Danvers, Sandra M. Sasser of Revere, & Lisa J. Fitzpatrick & her husband Steven of Glenburn, Maine.  She is the dear sister to: Arthur Santilli & his wife Katherine “Kitty” of Havertown, PA, & the late Pasquale & Robert Santilli.  She is also lovingly survived by 8 grandchildren, & several nieces & nephews.  Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Peabody.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: “Heaps of Hope,” 60  Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481.

Antonelli, died in September of 2009.  She is the Cherished mother of: Rosemarie Antonelli & her long-time companion, Retired Revere Firefighter, Anthony J. “Tony” Cappoccia of Revere & the late Anthony J. Antonelli.  She is the dear mother-in-law to: Kathleen (Horgan) Antonelli of Everett.  She is the Devoted Grandmother of: Revere Patrolman Douglas Zingali & his wife, Vivianne of Salem, Toni Antonelli-Alterio & her husband, Paul Alterio, of Malden, Whitney & Alanna Antonelli, both of Everett.  She is the Dear sister of: Harold Reid & his wife, Diane, of Saugus, John Reid & wife, Jean, of Waltham, Joseph Reid & his late wife, Mary, of Chelsea & the late Lillian G. Iandolo, who died unexpectedly at his Winthrop home on Tuesday, May 21st at 42 years.  The memorial service will follow the visitation on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.  Born in Boston, he was raised & educated in Revere, & was a 1990 alumnus of Revere High School.  All of his working career was spent in food service, as a waiter for several of Boston’s better restaurants, & most recently at “The Cheesecake Factory” in Boston.  He is the beloved son of Retired Revere Patrolman Nicholas A. Iandolo of Winthrop & the late, Patricia M. (Costantino) Iandolo.  He is the devoted brother to Maria Iandolo of Revere & Nicholas R. (Ardizzoni) Cafarelli, who died on Monday, May 20th after a long & arduous 12-year struggle with complications arising from cerebral vascular disease.  Mrs. Cafarelli died at her Revere home, where she had been cared for by her children.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born in Chelsea, she was a life-long Revere resident.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother.  Marie enjoyed playing cards & was a proficient cribbage player.  Her late husband, Revere Patrolman Leonard L. Cafarelli, died in May of 1981.  She is the cherished mother of: Donna L. Marcinowski & her husband Paul F. of Revere, Arlane L. Zagami & her husband Peter of Moultonboro, NH, formerly of North Reading, Diane M. Ceruolo of Peabody, & Leonard G. Cafarelli of Revere.  She is the devoted Grandmother of: Lynn M. Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 20th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Jeannette (Connors) Foley, who died on Friday, May 17th at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere, following a long illness, at 91 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, May 21st at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born & raised in Oak Island, Revere, she was a 1939 alumna of Revere High School.  She & her family were life-long supporters & devotees of the former St. Theresa Church of Revere.  She spent over 30 years in the employ of the Revere School System as their Financial Secretary.  Although Jeannette & her late husband, Jeremiah A. Foley, considered themselves life-long residents of Revere, they lived in Haverhill for over 25 years in the fifties & sixties because of Jerry’s employment with John Hancock Life Insurance.  “Jerry” died in September of 1980.  Both Jeannette & her sister, Marie “ReRe,” will long be remembered for their infamous daily walks on Revere Beach Boulevard.  For over 20 years “The Sisters” would begin their walk at 8:30 a.m. from their home on Cary Ave., & make the total 4-mile walk daily.  You could not help but notice the “Duo:” their perfectly coiffured hair, the “Vogue” outfits, & all the accessories that made them unique & elegant.  This continued well into Jeannette’s middle-eighties, when her health began to decline.  Jeannette was a devout Catholic, attended mass regularly, & often maintained a beautiful home, was an avid reader, an interesting conversationalist & especially was dedicated & devoted to her entire family & their needs.  She is the devoted mother of Karen M. Epler & her husband, Grant O. Epler, of Lynnfield.  She is the dear sister of Marie H. “ReRe” (Connors) Capodilupo & her husband Justin P. of Revere, & the late Thomas D. Connors & the late Jacqueline V. “Jackie” Grenda.  She is the Cherished grandmother of Scott A. Epler & his wife Maryalice of Biddeford, ME, Danielle M. Junkins & her husband Todd of East Bridgewater, & the late Grant P. Epler.  She is also lovingly survived by her great-granddaughters, Sara M. & Kacy N. Junkins, her sister-in-law Rose Connors of Lynn, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  Jeannette was predeceased by her niece, Jean M. Maguire & her brother-in-law, Frank M. Sabbagh of Georgetown & the late Theresa M. Dr. Richard J. Milligan, DMD

Milligan, DMD, who died after a long & arduous illness at Genesis of Wakefield Center on Saturday, May 11th, at 64 years.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, May 17th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church (250 Revere St.), Revere, at 10 a.m.  Born in South Boston, the family moved to Arlington early in his youth where he attended schools.  He is a 1967 alumnus of Arlington High School, the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1971, & was an alumnus of the Goldman School of Dentistry at Boston University in 1977.  In 1977, he set up practice in Watertown & remained there until 1989.  Following a tragic accident in 1989, the effects of which ended his dentistry career.  Dr. Milligan lived in Revere for the past 38 years & was a member of the Orient Heights Yacht Club of East Boston, the Revere Broadsound Tuna Club, & the New England Charter Boat Captains’ Association.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Kathleen A. (O’Donnell) Milligan.  He is the Devoted father of Karen A. Milligan-Frost, R.N. & her husband, Matthew, of Arlington.  He is the dear Brother of: Robert Milligan & his wife Dorothy of Clearwater, FL, Kevin Milligan & his wife June of Stoneham, John Milligan & his wife Katherine of Sandwich, & Brian Milligan of Ipswich. He is the Son of the late Robert & Edna (Hagen) Milligan. (Croce) Partin, from 4 – 8 p.m., who died at her Revere residence on Friday, May 3rd following a long & courageous battle with kidney disease, at 78 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, May 7th at 9 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the funeral home at 10 a.m.  Born & raised in Boston, she was a long-time resident of East Boston before moving to Revere 30 years ago.  Mrs. Partin was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & was anticipating with much joy the arrival of her first Great-Grandchild, a baby girl in September.  Her late husband, Ralph Partin, died in June of 2001.  She is the Cherished mother of: Anna Wilson & her husband Charles of West Roxbury, Brenda Francis & her partner Roland Varley of Revere, Maureen Bailey & her husband Thomas of Quincy, Beverly Hardgrave of Revere, & Rebecca Spinelli & her husband Steve of Peabody.  She is the adored Grandmother of, Jessie, Zachary & Seth Wilson, Ashley Francis, Paige Esposito, Bridget Bangs, Nicholas & Matthew Spinelli, & Olivia & Liam Bailey.  Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Veterans’ Cemetery, Bourne, with her husband.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Norwood, MA 02062.

Gaffney.  The couple moved to Largo, FL in 1998.  Barbara was a devoted & caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, & a recent great-grandmother.  She is the devoted Mother of William J. Gaffney & his wife, Jamie of Atkinson, NH, & Robert A. We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
