RPD Detective Stellario A. “Larry” Malta who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2015 following a long illness, he was 90 years old. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home Thursday, March 12th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church 250 revere St. Revere. Born & raised in Revere, Larry attended Revere schools before enlisting in the United States Navy in November 1942. Larry served his country during WWII & the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Navy, on September 1st, 1946 he married his love, Anna M. DeAngelis. The couple made their home in Revere raising their three children. Larry became a Revere Police Officer and later rising to the ranks as Detective, in the Juvenile Office, a career that spanned 20 years. After Retirement Larry & his wife retired to Port Richy, FL, where they remained for almost 30 years. While in Florida, Larry remained active & social. He was a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #6476 in Port Richy, FL. He is the devoted husband of Anna M. (DeAngelis) Malta of Saugus of whom he shared 68 years of marriage. He is the loving father of Laura A. Tully & her husband Thomas of Lynnfield, Linda E Almeida of Tewksbury & the late Michael Malta. He is the beloved brother of Michael Malta of Arlington & the late Samuel Malta, Anna Santoli & Laura Ferraro. He is the cherished grandfather of 5 grandchildren & the adored great grandfather of 12 great grandchildren. Also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. (Gavin) Ragucci, who died unexpectedly in her home in Revere, she was 55 years old. A Funeral Service will be held  in the funeral Home at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be private.

Debora was born in Cambridge, at an early age the family moved to Malden. She was educated in the Malden Public Schools & was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1977. For most of her working career, she was an administrative assistant at several area bank branches. She later worked in the Malden Hospital, in their administrative department. Debora was forced to stop working due to her declining health and became disabled. She is the devoted daughter of the late Richard Gavin & Catherine A. (Farrow) LeBlanc. She is the wife of the late Kenneth Ragucci, Sr. She is the loving mother of Kenneth Ragucci, Jr. of Tewksbury & U.S. Marine Corporal Michael T. Ragucci of Hawaii. She is the adored grandmother of Kaylee A. Ragucci & Maya Murphy. Also lovingly survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. She was also the companion of the late John Falcucci.

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday March 8th from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Rocco Anthony Jesso, who died on Wednesday, March 4th after a lengthy illness at Massachusetts General Hospital, he was 83 years old. A funeral will be conducted on Monday March 9th beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m.. Mr. Jesso was born & raised in his family home in Charlestown. He was educated in Boston Public Schools and graduated from Boston Technical H.S. class of 1949. He then attended Boston University, earning a B.S. in Public Relations in 1954. After he graduated from Boston University, he was compelled to join the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, serving his country for 2 years. He returned home from his service and continued the pursuit of his education. Rocco returned to Boston University, earning his Masters’ Degree in Education, for “Special Needs”. That same year on October 13th,1958 , Rocco married his long time sweetheart Rosalie L. Bravoco. The couple then moved to Revere to raise their three children & later returning to his native Charlestown. Rocco began his teaching career in Special Education in the Boston Public School System, specifically East Boston High School. During his tenure, he became the Department Head of Special Education. This was not a job for him, it was his life’s passion. He poured himself into his work to help enrich the lives of every student that he encountered. He also taught classes at the Barnes School in East Boston on American Immigration. Rocco also found time to dedicate to other kids, in sports. He coached J.V. Track, J.V. Baseball, Soccer but above all he was the Hockey Coach at East Boston High School for 26 years. Rocco had a gift whether in the classroom, on a field, on the ice or in the streets to take the time to listen to what was happening in a person’s life and guide them. He truly inspired these children to better themselves, to help them see a different path in life and make better choices for themselves, because he genuinely cared. In 1984, Rocco earned another Master’s Degree from Salem State College in School Administration. Rocco is a prime example of a man of great character and determination, all that he had attained in his life, he did while being a caring & loving father & devoted husband while caring for his ailing wife for many years. He endured hardships in his life and felt the pain of losing his wife and his son. He was a man who loved what he did & he made a difference in many of the lives he encountered. He is the devoted husband of the late Rosalie L. (Bravoco) Jesso of whom he shared 36 years of marriage. He is the loving father of Laura M. McDonald of Winthrop, Christine J. Pasquariello of Peabody & the late Michael J. Jesso. He is the cherished grandfather of Michael T. Jesso of NH & Matthew M. McDonald of FL. He is the beloved brother of Mary Jesso & Lee Jesso both of Charlestown & the late Phyllis Perrone. Also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews,cousins & many extended family, collegues former students & players. He is the late member of; Knights of Columbus (Revere) East Boston Athletic Board , Special Class Teachers’ Assoc. Boston Coaches Assoc., Mass State Hockey Assoc. & V.F.W. Born & raised in Ariano Irpino , Italy. She married in Italy to Ferdinand P. Grasso in 1953, shortly after in the same year, the couple journeyed to America. She & her husband settled in East Boston and began to start their family. In 1971, Anna & her family moved to Revere and continued to raise their 5 daughters. Anna took great pride in caring for her home and taking care of her family. She was an extraordinary cook & she did it all with love. In later years, she was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren ,she enjoyed caring & loving them. It was also known that Anna enjoyed playing Bingo & visiting the casino’s for fun, but her favorite place was being surrounded with her family. She is the devoted wife of Ferdinand P. Grasso of whom she shared 61 years of marriage. She is the loving mother of Mary Anne Fiore & her husband William J. of Topsfield, Linda M. DeGuglielmo & her husband Carmine of Lynn, Diane R. Januario & her husband John B. of Lynn, Denise A. Burch & her husband Edward of Tewksbury & Lisa J. Rizzo & her husband Paul of Revere. She is the beloved sister of the late Geruzzo Scrima, Marie Giardino, Antonio Scrima & Pasquale Scrima. She is the cherished & adored grandmother of 11 & great grandmother of 10. The couple was married in 1953 and remained in Revere. Margaret was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She is the beloved wife of the late Franklin J. “Al” Nolan. She is the loving sister of the late John J. Donovan, Jr., Frances Pesce & her late husband Ret. RFD Lt. Anthony, V. Pesce, Sr., Mary Arsenault, Catherine Halpin, & Anna Boudreau. Robert M. “Bob” Macero

Visiting hours will be held at the Vertuccio & Smith Funeral Home on Friday, February 27th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

 

Robert M. Macero, “Bob”, age 80, of Saugus, died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on February 24, 2015.

Bob was born on September 26, 1934 in Chelsea, MA; he was the dear son of the late Antonio and Anna (Capadano) Macero. Bob was raised in the brick bottom section of Somerville on Joy Street and part of the “Joy Street Gang” who all remained close friends throughout their lifetime. Bob was educated in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Bob went on to further his education at Boston University.

Prior to retiring, Bob worked as an Insurance Marketing Representative for the Commercial Union Insurance Company for many years. Bob had a great work ethic and a wonderful personality; these were traits that helped Bob become such a success in his field.

Family was always first and foremost to Bob; he was the very devoted father and a wonderful grandfather. Bob was always very supportive of children and whatever they were involved in; school events, sporting events, little league, or acting classes, Bob was always there coaching or cheering them on. Bob always beamed with pride when he spoke of his family and their many accomplishments.

Bob was very active in his community, for many years he coached Saugus American Little League and served as Secretary for 13 years, Bob was also the Past President of the Saugus Band Parents Association and spent many years fund raising for the Band.

Bob was very passionate about his role in the Saugus Lions Club where he worked tirelessly and spent countless hours volunteering at their many fund raisers and candy drives. Bob served as President of the Lions Club in 1995-1996, a position he took very seriously; Bob was always giving of his time and talents to the club and its members. Bob’s efforts did not go unnoticed and he was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award which is the highest award one can receive from the club.

Bob let his creative side come to light when he served as Past President and Vice President of the Peninsula Players Community Theatre Group in Nahant. Bob was not only a talented actor but a producer as well; Bob was very proud of the many wonderful performances that were put on by the Theatre Group and everyone always had a great time together.

Bob loved to travel; he visited ports of call all over the world especially following his retirement. Bob went on many wonderful trips with his family and friends throughout the years; these were memorable experiences that will be cherished for years to come.

Bob will be fondly remembered as a “great guy”, he was kind, caring, and always willing to do for others. Bob’s unconditional love for his family and friends was always evident in whatever he did; their happiness was very important to him. Bob will also be remembered for his endearing personality, quick wit, and warm smile; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob was the devoted father of Michael F. Macero & his wife Judy of Chelsea, John J. Macero & his wife Trudy of Winthrop, Chief Petty Officer Robert L. Macero & his wife Linda of Grapeview, WA, and Angela D. Carpenter of St. Petersburg, FL, beloved companion of Yolanda Giannone of Saugus, loving “Grandpa” of Joseph Macero, Melissa Macero, Jaime Montesano, Michael Montesano, Alixandra Macero, Robert Macero II, Eugene Macero, Adrienne Vetters, Cheyenne Carla, Pamela King, and the late Taynna Melendez, “Great-Grandpa” of Andersen and Lillian Carla, Piper King, Riley and Bryan Vetters. Cherished son of the late Antonio and Anna (Capadano) Macero, dear brother of Daniel Macero of Walpole, the late Cosmo, Salvatore, Anthony, and Nancy Macero. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and a large and loving extended family.

Nancy was born in Boston on March 16, 1934, raised and lived in Revere the majority of her life. She worked for the Catholic Charities for over 15 years assisting teachers and elementary students in the Malden School systems.

She is the wife the late George F. Worcester Jr., loving mother of Janice Worcester and her companion Mark Menard of Peabody and Brian Worcester and his wife Joann of Revere. Grandmother of Brian G, Jennelle, Jennifer, Anthony and Jenna Worcester. Beloved sister of Marion Sessa of Middleton and Dorothy Fraser of Peabody. Lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Manganiello who died on Tuesday, February 24th at the Leonard Florence Center for the Living in Chelsea, following a brief illness. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, March 2nd at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church 250 Revere St. Revere. Ed was born & raised in Revere. He was educated in Revere Public Schools and is an alumnus of Revere High School Class of 1949. It is well known that Ed as a tremendous athlete in high school and was a key member of the football team. After graduation, He attended Boston University for one year, then was recruited by Brandeis University to play football. Ed excelled on the field and became the Captain of the Brandeis Football Team. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Brandeis. Ed was also scouted by the San Francisco Forty Niners due to his talents. In later years he was inducted into Brandeis University Hall of Fame. He continued on to earn a Master’s Degree from Boston University. Ed felt strongly about education and pursued his career as a teacher. In 1957 Ed was married to his lovely wife Joan Fox. The couple remained in Revere, where they raised their two daughters, Nancy & Mia. He became the Principal of Revere High School in 1981. He is the devoted husband of the late Joan (Fox) Manganielo. He is the loving & cherished father of Nancy L. Manganiello & Mia G. Manganiello & her partner Robert Mullins, Jr. all of Swampscott. He is the beloved nephew of Rosemarie DiFabio & Basil Bova both of Revere & dear cousin of Thomas Russo & his wife Terry of Ipswich. Interment will be held Privately. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, February 27th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere. Born & raised in East Boston’s Jeffries Point Section, she was educated in Boston public Schools and was an alumna of East Boston High School Class of 1971. She later went onto attend Northeastern University. On April 8th 1972 Mickey married Howard Cunningham. The couple resided in East Boston and began their family, raising three daughters. Mickey worked as a Secretarial Clerk for the New England Teamsters Pension Fund for 25 years. Mickey was a dedicated wife and mother, there was nothing more important to her than her family. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren whom she treasured. One of her happiest moments in her life was getting to enjoy the pleasure of having her entire family with her at Disney World. Although her illness made it difficult on her, it never penetrated her will to live or love, she demonstrated tremendous strength & determination to battle through each day. She is the beloved daughter of the late Jenny “Tootsie” (Sorrentino) Palmisano. The devoted wife of Howard L. Cunningham of whom she shared 42 years of marriage. She is the loving mother of Melissa Cunningham, Jennie J. “J.J.” Durbano – Cataldo & her husband Alex, & Melanie H. Cunningham. She is the adored grandmother of Domenick A. D’Urbano, Aaron M. Souza, Jr. & Denyella M. D’Urbano all of Revere. She is the cherished sister of Donna E. Conroy & her husband Patrick of Braintree & Robert B. Palmisano & his wife Margaret of Revere. On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
