Helen M. (Fiorentino) Porter

A Private Funeral Mass was held in the Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, August 5th for 100-year Revere resident, Helen M. (Fiorentino) Porter, who passed following a brief illness on Saturday, August 1st at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home.
Born & raised in Boston’s North End on June 20, 1918 (102 years ago) she & her family moved to Revere in 1920, over 100 years ago. She attended schools in Revere and was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1936. She secured her special teaching certificate late in life to work as a Teacher’s Aide & substitute teacher for the former Children Day Care of Revere. Earlier in her career, she was an employee of Forbes Lithograph. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Parish community and an attendee at many of the services and fundraising events. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America – Court James Lee. She was also one of the first appointed Eucharistic Ministers for Immaculate Conception Parish and was a longtime volunteer at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center.
She is the beloved wife of the late Revere Police Lt. James S. Porter. Devoted mother of James L. Porter & his partner Carole A. Pelissey of Beverly & Marie F. Carenza & her husband Anthony of West Peabody. Cherished grandmother of Christina M. Porter & her companion Andrew Turchon of Salem, MA, Maura C. Cugini & her husband Paul of Belmont, Lauren J. Porter of Salem, MA, Jamie A. Carenza of South Boston & Teresa E. Santia & her husband Joshua of Hopkinton. Adored great-grandmother of Norah & Evelyn Turchon & Oliver A. Santia. Dear sister of the late Mary Casoli, Lillian Samu, Anthony Fiorentino & Margaret Fiorentino. She is also lovingly survived by many faithful nieces & nephews.

At 82 years, in Revere, formerly of Orient Heights, East Boston, July 26th, following a brief illness. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph M. & Catherine F. (Wallace) Meaney. Kathy also leaves her best friends of 40 years, Christine M. LaVigueur & her husband Joseph of Revere & her special feline pal, “Holly”. Kathleen was widely known as a type A supporter of the Revere Little League & the very first female manager to serve the Revere League. She was a 1955 alumna of Cathedral High School & a 1959 graduate of Emmanuel College of Boston. Her career at Arthur D. Little Co. of Cambridge spanned some 46 years as a “Research Biologist.

Karl E. N. “Wolf” Warren

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 8th at 1:00 p.m., in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere for Karl E. N. “Wolf” Warren, who died on Saturday, July 25th at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida following a second battle with cancer, he was 54 years old.
Karl was born & raised in Revere and was an alumnus of Pope John XXIII High School, Class of 1984. Karl enrolled at the Bolivar Aviation Academy, where he studied Aviation & became a licensed Pilot. It was one of many goals he achieved by following his passions. For most of his life Karl lived “on the road” whether he was driving a Truck or Tour Bus. Karl worked for Swift Trucking for many years & later for Senator Tour Company. Karl worked with many popular celebrities & bands while they were touring the country. Karl had the privilege of driving for Elton John, One Direction, Heart, Metallica, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, just to name a few. Karl loved being on the road and he was known as “Wolf”. He was remembered by whomever he worked with as being a very generous & giving friend. He was kind to anyone he met and treated everyone as he wanted to be treated. His kind personality was what defined him as a person. If you were Karl’s friend, then you were blessed with his genuine and kind heart. Karl’s biggest passion was being a “lover” of country music, he wasn’t just a fan, he was a super fan who lived it. He will be missed by many of the friends he made on the road across the United States.
He is the proud & beloved son of Edward D.N. “Ned” & Emily F. (Cafarelli) Warren of Revere. Devoted life partner of Michael Quick of Tallahassee, FL. Loving brother of Eric J. Attorney Antonio Abbene, Jr.

Attorney Antonio Abbene, Jr. peacefully departed on July 25 in his 98th year, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was a life-long Revere resident and resided on the same street where he was born 98 years ago. He graduated from Revere High School in 1939. He served his country in World War II. He attended the Colorado School of Mines, Boston College and Suffolk University Law School. Tony practiced law until the age of 93. He served on the Revere School Committee and was legal counsel to the School Board. He was also Assistant Solicitor for the city. He was the former chairman of the American Heart Association in Revere. He was also a Member of Revere Kiwanis & the Justinian Society.
He is the beloved husband of 72 years to Florence J. (Lepore) Abbene of Revere. Devoted father of Pamela M. Floridia & her husband Richard J. of Marlborough & Anthony ‘Skip’ Abbene & his wife, Karen A. of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Charles D. & Anthony J. Abbene, both of Melrose. Dear brother of the late William, Dante & Benjamin Abbene & Anna Pistorino. Son of the late Antonio Abbene, Sr. & Lena (Alba) Abbene. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE on Thursday, July 23rd at 11:30 a.m. for Donald F. Hagstrom, of Revere, at 89 years, who passed on July 18, 2020. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. All attendees are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
Donald leaves his beloved wife of 58 years, Gilda (Ambrosino) and children Geraldine (Hagstrom) Paskowski of Danvers, John Hagstrom and partner Rangsun Sitthichai of Watertown, and Frederick Hagstrom and wife Julianne of Andover. He was the son of the late Oliver and Martha (Lee) Hagstrom. Adored grandfather of Alexander Roberts and his wife Madelyn of Marblehead; Erik, Genevieve, Ian, and Aaron Paskowski of Danvers, and Elizabeth and Catherine Hagstrom of Andover. Loving great- grandfather of Finn and Soren Roberts. Well-respected uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Born in Arlington, Donald grew up in East Boston. He was very proud of his 20-year career in the US Army, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his time spent in Vietnam, as well as the Commendation Medal from the Military Police. He attended Newbury Junior College where he obtained an Associates Degree. He retired from John Hancock Insurance Company after 23 years of service.
Donald enjoyed classical music, French wine and Italian food. He loved entertaining family and friends throughout the years with cookouts, birthday parties and celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas Eve.
Donald was predeceased by his siblings Earl, Charles, Robert, Norman (Red), Thomas Hagstrom, Geraldine Cann and Clare West.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew this outstanding man.

Mary A. “Maureen” (McManus) Dever

Funeral Services & Interment will be held privately due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic for Mary A. “Maureen” (McManus) Dever, who passed on Saturday, July 11th at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness, she was 84 years old.
Maureen was born & raised in Londonderry North, Ireland. She was educated in Ireland and came to the United States when she was just 19 years old. She married Robert J. Dever & the couple spent many years raising their family in East Boston. They later moved to Revere in 1985, where she remained until her death. Maureen was a dedicated homemaker to her family and after her children were in High School, she took a position at M.I.T., in the food service area of the campus. She worked there for approximately 15 years before retiring. Maureen loved being with her family and sharing many laughs & wonderful memories. She loved walking Revere Beach and enjoyed the beauty of the ocean. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was also an avid reader of many types of books. She loved to travel and would often return to Ireland to visit with her family. Family was the heart & soul of her life. However, one of Mary’s very favorite treats was to embark on a spontaneous suggestion to take a quick trip up Route 1 Saugus for lunch or dinner at the Border Cafe. Surely, it brought to mind many tender memories, as this was also a special place for her late husband and she to enjoy their time together.
She is the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Dever, who passed on April 18th, 2003. Loving mother of Christine E. Harmon & husband Tommy of Woburn, Robert F. Dever of Revere & Cathleen P. Dever & her longtime companion Robert DeFronzo of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer N. Melville R.N. & husband Joseph of Westwood & Derek M. Harmon of Woburn. Adored great grandmother of Aria, Ava & Logan. Dear sister of the late Richard “Dickie” McManus (Former Band Leader of the “Irish Revolution”) & Christina Young. She is also lovingly survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Eilish” (Young) McManus of Revere & her brother-in-law, Patrick Young of Derry, Ireland. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews also survive Maureen, both in the USA & Ireland.
