Mabel M. (Lehmann) Moschella

Family & friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, May 12th, 2014 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, beginning at 9 a.m. for Mabel M. (Lehmann) Moschella, who died following a brief illness on Wednesday, May 7th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett, at 96 years.  The funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday, followed by the funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.  Born in Lawrence, she was raised & educated in Chelsea, attended St. Rose Grammar School & St. Rose High School, graduating in 1935.  She married Michael Moschella, of Revere, in 1941, where he would rise to the rank of Revere Fire Captain.  The couple enjoyed 67 years together until his death in August of 2008.  Mabel had a talent for athletics & was most instrumental in bringing “Girls’ Basketball” to both St. Rose High School of Chelsea & Revere’s Immaculate Conception High School.  She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community & School organizations.  She was past president from 1969 – 1970 of the Immaculata Guild, & past president & member of the Parish Bowling League (1968 – 1969).  She was also a member of the Revere Womens’ Club for several years.  She is the devoted mother of Maureen C. “Shelly” Murphy, R.N. of Winthrop, & Retired Revere Fire Deputy Chief, Dr. John M. Moschella, PhD of Revere.  She is the cherished grandmother of: Erica L. Fagan-Lafond & her husband Gary of North Andover, Christine M. D’Ambrosio & her husband Mark of Winthrop, & Dr. Brian T. Murphy of Chicago, Illinois.  She is also lovingly survived by her 6 great-grandchildren: Cole M. Fagan, Derek K. Lafond, Piper S. Lafond, Jackson T.M. D’Ambrosio, Michael B. D’Ambrosio, & Elaina A. D’Ambrosio.  She was the sister of the late, Sr. Maureen Clare, S.P., John J. Lehmann, & Rita Lehmann.  She is the dear sister-in-law to: Angelo & Netta Moschella, Sarah Moschella, & Barbara Moschella, all of Revere.  Many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews also survive her.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: March of Dimes, 484 Main St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Emma A. (D’Abbraccio) Poindexter

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, on Saturday, May 10th, 2014 from 9 – 11 a.m. for Emma A. (D’Abbraccio) Poindexter, who died on March 13th at the Concord Health Care Center following a long illness, at 93 years.  The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., with interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.  Born & raised in Providence, Rhode Island, she was educated there & came to live in Arlington 60 years ago.  Mrs. Poindexter worked for over 46 years for Cambridge City Hospital, rising to the rank of Chief of the X-Ray Department, a post she held until retirement in the late 1980’s.  Her late husband, John H. Poindexter, died in July of 1980.  She is the beloved mother of Howard J. Poindexter of South Carolina, & the late Dana M. Poindexter.  She is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Doris J. Poindexter, of Townsend.  She is the devoted grandmother of: Renee J. Poindexter-Polonsky & her husband Eric of Roda, Spain, Brett N. Poindexter & his wife Bethany of Townsend, MA, Paul, Amy, Daniel, & Sara Poindexter, & the late Jonathan Poindexter.  She was the sister of the late Frederick D’Abbraccio, Dorothy Gibbs, Etta, Ciccolo, & Louise Geswaldo.  She is also lovingly survived by 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

(DeStefano) Ledoux, who died at her Revere home on Thursday, May 1st, unexpectedly, at 73 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, May 7th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m.  Mrs. Ledoux was born & raised in Revere, & was a 1958 alumna of Revere High School.  She did work in the garment industry early in her life.  However, having become a mother of five, she was a full-time Mom & their resident “Seamstress.”  She loved sewing & it seems that most of the extended family also benefited from her expertise.  She is the cherished mother of: Michael Ledoux of Revere (with whom she made her home), Susan M. Maggio & her husband Mark of Malden, Diane M. Moccia & her husband Steven of Palm Beach, Florida, Linda A. Angelone & her husband Philip A. of Middleton, & Danielle M. Ellen M. (Barrowclough) MacAllister

Services & interment for Ellen M. (Barrowclough) MacAllister were held privately.  Mrs. MacAllister died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at here Revere (Oak Island) home, at 57 years.  Born & raised in Beverly, she attended schools there & lived there until moving to Revere ten years ago.  Ellen worked at Wonderland Dog Track as a trainer for several years, until the track closed.  She is the beloved wife of Ralph R. MacAllister, Sr.  She is the dear sister of David & Thomas Barrowclough, both of Beverly.  She is also lovingly survived by Gerald Spears of Revere, Muriel Spears of Provincetown, Beverly Dares of Ossippee, New Hampshire, Timothy Spears of Davie, Florida, Denise E. MacAllister & Samuel MacAllister both of Revere, Billy Joe MacAllister of Lowell, & the late: E. Russell, Anthony P., & Ralph R. MacAllister, Jr., & Steven Spears.  Ellen was a true nature lover & preservationist in her love & care for all animals, so in light of that, rather than flowers, remembrances may be made to the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA at Angell), 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130-9923.

Ella M. (Andreottola) Sgobbo

Family & friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 from 9 – 11 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Ella M. (Andreottola) Sgobbo, who died at the Whidden Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 29th following a lengthy illness, at 96 years.  The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  Mrs. Sgobbo was born & raised in Revere, & was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1937.  She had a sixteen year career with the United States Postal Service, at Ft. Point Channel (So. Postal Annex), Boston, as a mail clerk, retiring in 1983.  She is a member of the American Postal Workers’ Union.  She is the wife of the late Ralph Sgobbo, who died in March of 1968.  She is the devoted mother of Ellen M. Sgobbo of Revere, & the late Frederick A. Sgobbo.  She is the cherished grandmother of: Debra Sgobbo of Kentucky, Glen C. Sgobbo & his wife Wendy, Jeffrey M. Sgobbo & his wife Andrea, all of Columbus, Ohio, Nicholas F. Sgobbo & his wife Cristina, & Jena Sgobbo, all of Dublin, Ohio.  She is the dear sister of Josephine Cocuzzo of Newton, & the late Angelina Burns & Edith Ardolino.  She is also lovingly survived by her 4 great-grandchildren, Nadiya, Amanda, Anthony & Oliver, & several nieces & nephews.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Visiting Nurses’ Association of Boston, 500 Rutherford Ave., Charlestown, MA 02129.

(Vatalaro) Strauss, who died following a long & arduous battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on Thursday, April 24th, at 44 years.  Wendy leaves her beloved husband of 18 years, Jeffrey “Jeff” Strauss.  She is the cherished daughter of Kay F. (Prebensen) Vatalaro-Carroll of Weymouth & the late Joseph P. Vatalaro.  She is the devoted sister of: Esther M. Vatalaro of Winthrop, Andrea E. & Maryellen Vatalaro both of Everett, Paul Vatalaro of South Carolina, & the late Alan J. A large gathering of about 200 people were present on Monday, April 28th, 2014 for the funeral mass of Florence E. (Hannigan) Hill, who died on Tuesday, April 22nd at her Revere residence, in the sanctity & love of her family, at 91 years.  Mrs. Hill was born & raised in Revere, attended Revere schools & was a 1941 alumna of Revere High School.  She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas L. Hill, Sr., in August of 1946 & raised their 3 children.  In 1947, Mr. Hill established & operated “Hill Insurance Agency” on Broadway, Revere, where Florence became Office Manager.  Over the years, she met many, many people & forged long lasting relationships with business associates & friends.  Florence was a devotee of the Immaculate Conception Parish Family & a benefactor; she served on the Immaculata Guild & was active in many fundraising activities.  Florence especially enjoyed vacationing in Westford, MA & Greenacres, Florida, with her husband.  “Hill Insurance Agency” is still owned & operated by the family & administered by her husband, Thomas L. Hill.  She is the cherished mother of: James J. Hill & his wife Marie, Judith Hill & her companion Edward Simeone, & Thomas L. Hill, Jr. & his wife Tammi, all of Revere.  She is the devoted grandmother of Erin Hill of Cambridge, Jamie Harrop & her husband James of Peabody, Jessica Hill-Little & her husband Jason of Cleveland, Ohio, Thomas L. Hill, III & his wife Sabina, & Jason Hill, all of Revere.  Also lovingly survived by her 2 great-granddaughters, Abigayle Harrop & Juliana Little.  She was also the respected sister-in-law of: Helen “Honey” Hill, Grace Sanella & her husband Frederick, all of Revere, & John Cogliano of Westport, MA & Florida, Margaret Doherty-Hannigan of Newton, Eleanor F. Cronin-Hill & Carolann Hegarty-Hill, both of Revere.  She was the daughter of the late, George H. Hannigan & Florence (Hodgkins) Hannigan, & also was the sister of the late: Claire E. John J. Marino

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, for John J. Marino, who died following a long illness at the Hammersmith Nursing & Rehab Center of Saugus on Easter Sunday, April 20th, at 88 years.  Born in Boston’s North End, the family moved to Revere when he was a young boy, where he remained all of his life.  He entered the United States Navy on January 31st, 1944 & served until May 28th, 1951, serving for the Korean Conflict as well as World War II.  He achieved the rank of Gunner’s Mate, Third Class.  For over 40 years, he owned & operated Jay-Mar Trucking of Saugus & Revere, retiring in 1986.  Mr. Marino was a former member of the VFW Post #6712 of Beachmont.  He was the beloved husband for 62 years to the late, Eleanor A. “Ella” (Siciliano) Marino, who passed in January of 2012.  He is the devoted father of: John J. Marino, III & his wife Sandra A. of Saugus, & Michele Harter & her late husband Tracey of Long Beach, California.  He is the cherished grandfather of Jasmine G. Marino of Saugus, & the late Christopher J. Considine.  He is the dear brother-in-law of former Revere City Councillor Pasquale “Pat” Tata of Revere & the late Phyllis A. Tata, & the late Louis “Geno” Siciliano & his late wife Louise.  He is also lovingly survived by his aunt, Theresa DeStefano of North Reading, & his two adored great-grandchildren, Sophia G. Fiandaca & Christopher J. Marino, both of Saugus, & many nieces & nephews.  He was the brother of the late Maryann Cobb.  Interment is private.  Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals of Revere is honored to have assisted in the completion of these funeral arrangements.

Lois A. (Saggese) Ventresco

Family & friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph – St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St., East Boston (Orient Heights), for Lois A. (Saggese) Ventresco, who died following a brief illness at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital on Easter Sunday, April 20th, at 73 years.  Born & raised in Winthrop, she was educated in the Winthrop & Boston school systems.  For over 20 years & until her stroke on February 14th, 2014, she served as a Principal Administrator at Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.  For many years, Lois maintained a close relationship with the Discalced Carmelite Sisters of Peabody & the Marist Missionary Sisters of Waltham.  Her faithfulness & generosity are well noted to both of these congregations.  Her late husband, Anthony E. Ventresco, died on February 5th, 1984.  She never remarried.  She is the cherished mother of Lisa A. Ventresco of Winthrop, & the devoted grandmother of David A. Ventresco, a student at the University of Connecticut, of New Hampshire.  She is survived by her son, Anthony E. Ventresco, Jr. of NH, & a brother, Alfred E. Saggese, Jr. of Winthrop.  She was the sister of the late Joan Shea.  She is also lovingly survived by her former daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Turner & her husband Gary of Merrimac, NH.  Interment will be in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, P.O. Languirand, Sr., who died on Easter Sunday, his 64th birthday, after a long illness in the Lighthouse Nursing  Care Center of Revere, at 64 years.  The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, April 24th at 12 Noon, followed by interment in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section), Winthrop.  Born & raised in Salem, he attended Salem schools.  Most of his working career was in the construction field.  Before his illness took hold, he owned & operated his own business, known as “The Handyman of Winthrop”.  Before moving to Winthrop in 1989, he & his family lived previously in Newton, Randolph & Watertown.  He leaves his beloved & devoted wife of 42 years, Louisa M. (Casamento) Languirand.  He is the cherished son of Althea E. (Simard) Languirand & the late Arthur A.  He is the devoted father of: Ronald J. Languirand, Jr. & his fiancee Candace Trinque of Leominster, & Arthur A. Languirand & his fiancee Rebecca Lescay of Winthrop, Wendy Languirand of Oregon, Crystal Languirand & Betsy Kusa both of Dracut.  He is also lovingly survived by his grandchildren: Reid, Gabriel, Joshua, Ryan, Richard & Lulu.  He is the dear brother of the late Arthur A.
