Gilda E. (Maffei) Santosuosso
Family & friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Saturday, October 27th, 2012 at 12 Noon in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, for Gilda E. (Maffei) Santosuosso, who died on Saturday, October 20th at Wingate of Reading, following a brief illness, at 99 years. Born & raised in Revere, Mrs. Santosuosso was an alumna (Class of 1930) of Revere High School, a 1933 alumna of Leslie College, & a 1934 alumna of Salem State Teachers College. Her major was in elementary education & spent almost forty years at the former Julia Ward Howe School, Beachmont, teaching 1st & 2nd grade. She was a devoted & caring teacher, who took pride in her students, realizing that early development was most crucial to their developmental study habits & attitudes. Mrs. Santosuosso spent her entire teaching career at the Julia Ward Howe School. She is a member of the Retired Revere Teachers’ Association & the Revere Women’s Club, as well as the Anthonian Club of St. Anthony’s Parish. She & her late husband, Benjamin C. Santosuosso, who passed in December of 1994, were devotees of St. Anthony’s Parish Community. Although the couple were not blessed with their own biological children, they were surrogate Parents to all their nieces & nephews. “Auntie GG” was legendary for her generosity & kindness. She will be remembered especially for her dignity, quiet charm & absolute integrity. She is the devoted aunt to, Rocco “Richard” Abruzzese & his wife, Lois of Medford, New Jersey, Carmen J. Lepore of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Linda F. Sorbello of Reading, MA, Anthony M. Lepore & his partner, Jeanne Cusick of Stow, MA & Linda Idone & her husband, Robert of Falmouth, MA. She is also the loving grand-aunt of 4 grand-nieces & 6 grand-nephews, & the cherished Great-Grand aunt of 6 Great-Grand nieces & 3 Great-Grand nephews. She also leaves many faithful cousins. She was the dear Sister of the late, Lydia L. Lepore & Yolanda Abruzzese. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody. Lillian M. (Terrio) Prisco

(Terrio) Prisco, who died on Tuesday, October 16th at the Pleasant Bay Nursing Facility in Brewster, MA, unexpectedly following a brief illness, at 93 years. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, October 19th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 10:30. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Born and raised in Revere she was a lifelong resident of Revere and often spent summer vacations at Chatham. Mrs. Prisco had a large extended family in Nova Scotia, Canada. Until the age of 89, she would drive alone to visit her family at least once a year & sometimes twice a year. For over 50 years, she owned and operated “Lillian’s Beauty Salon” on Broadway, Chelsea. She held her beautician’s license until age ninety. She is the wife of the late: Edward J. Prisco, who died in December of 1989. She is the devoted mother of: William R. Prisco & his wife Joan C. of Revere & Chatham. She is the cherished grandmother to: Rachael A. Evans & her husband, Richard A. “J.R.” of Revere. She is the dear sister to the late: Lorraine Mahan, Rita M. Pfiel, Walter A. Terrio, Jr. & Doris E. Terrio. She is lovingly survived by her sister-in-law, Rita Terrio of Chatham and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. She is a long-time member of the Merritt Club of Chelsea. Leanora (D’Ambrosio) Kretas

Born in East Boston, August 18, 1924, she resided there until moving to Revere in 1963. She was a 1942 Alumna of East Boston High School. For many years she worked at Mass Eye and Ear infirmary of Boston as a clerk, retiring from there in September of 1991. Prior positions she held were at, Hart Caterers & The Electric Boat Co., of Groton CT. She was along time member of the Revere Women of the Moose, Lodge # 1272 and The AFLCIO (Caterers Union) Local for Food & Beverages. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA. She was the widow of the late John M. Kretas. She is the devoted mother of, George A. Kretas & his wife Maria of Wakefield, MA , Paul R. Kretas & his wife Elaine of North Berwick, Maine and the Late Major John M. Kretas, US Army Special Forces. She is the dear sister of Phyllis Restiano & her husband Donald “Rusty” of South Berwick, Maine and the late John, Gaetano “Guy” and Ralph D’Ambrosio, Mary Grasso and Philomena D’Ambrosio. Antoinette (Lehmann) Barry
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Antoinette “Toni” (Lehmann) Barry, who died at her Saugus home on Sunday, September 30th following a long illness, at 83 years. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, October 4th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere, at 11 a.m. Mrs. Barry was born & raised in Revere, & was a 1947 alumna of Revere High School. From 1960 – 1990, she owned & operated “Antoinette Barry Dance Studio” on Pleasant St., Revere. Several thousand children, from the area, learned how to dance & perform. She was a legend in her recital performances. “Toni” did it all, managed the school, instructed the lessons, & taught them, the rudiments of acting, & presentation. Many of her former students went onto careers in the theatre & on stage. Concurrently, with her dance school & raising her nine children, she was a distributor & consultant for “Mary K.” Cosmetics, for many years. Her time with “Mary K.” earned her the moniker, “The Mary-Kay Lady.” While her children were attending Immaculate Conception Grammar & High School, she was most active in the Immaculata Guild, & served as President. Besides her beloved husband of 63 years, Lawrence W. Barry, she is the devoted mother of: William L. Barry of Saugus, Andrew J. Barry & his wife, Donna of Franklin, MA, Stephen F. Barry & his wife, Marilyn of Melrose, Laureen B. Reardon of Lynnfield, Lawrence P. Barry & his wife, Lisa of Methuen, Christopher J. Barry & his wife, Jacqueline of Saugus, Annette Barry Cowhig of Newbury, MA, Matthew M. Barry of Saugus & Patrick N. Barry & his wife, Kiersten of Norwood. She is the Cherished grandmother of, Andrew, Alex, Evan, Kimberly, Katie, Shauna, Kristen & Joseph Barry, Makena & Terence Reardon & Devin Cowhig. John F. Mastone

Mastone, who died on Friday, September 28th, unexpectedly following a 17-day illness at Lahey Clinic of Burlington, MA, at 71 years. The funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 2nd at 9 a.m., followed by the funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 10 a.m. Mr. Mastone was born in Stoneham & was raised in Everett, attended Everett Schools & is a 1959 alumnus of St. Mary’s High School of Lynn. He was most proud of his time at St. Mary’s & was an outstanding athlete & student. He played baseball & football in high School & also played baseball for the Everett American Legion. His ability & technique was so outstanding, that he went on to play for the National Organization of the American Legion. He remained an avid sportsman & sports fan. All of his working career was spent in the construction industry. He worked for many of the local long-established firms, such as Pierini Const., Turner Construction, etc. He mainly was involved as a Project Manager on large industrial projects, often traveling around the country. On January 31st, 2012, he retired from the NASDI Corp., as a project manager & Vice-President. He is the beloved husband of 23 years to Donna (McChristian) Mastone. He is the Devoted brother of Francis R. Mastone & his wife, Donna of Fairfax, Virginia. He is the Dear Step-Father of Robert Jansen & his wife, Deanna & also leaves his mother-in-law, Elaine E. McChristian, his grandchildren, Robert, Brittany & Andrew Jansen, all of Miami, Florida, & several nieces & nephews. Interment will be in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, with his dear parents, the late, John F. & Marie C. (Pattelena) Mastone.

Jean’s first love was her faith, followed by her devotion to family, relatives & friends. She always held an unusually positive attitude in the face of adversity. She was the wife of the late Joseph Russo, who died in April of 2000. She is the devoted mother of, Philip J. Russo & his wife, Rita (Piantedosi) Russo, & the cherished grandmother of, Philip J. Rizzo, Sr., who died following a brief illness at Beverly Hospital, Beverly on Saturday, September 22nd, at 94 years. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, September 25th at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Born & raised in Revere, he attended Revere schools & was a 1936 alumnus of Revere High School. In November of 1942, he entered the United States Army & served until December of 1945 with the rank of Technician-4th Grade. He is a World War II Veteran. Ernie was a long-time member of the V.F.W. Mottollo Post #4524. Ernie opened his first Pizza Shop & Take-out Service in Dorchester, which he ran until 1968. He then opened “Ernie’s Pizza & Take-Out-Service” on Mountain Ave., Revere, until 1980. His beloved wife of 70 years, Margaret (Nazzaro) worked along side, cooking, servicing customers & maintaining the shop, as well as his 2 children. Besides his wife, he is the devoted father of Ernest M. Rizzo, Jr. of Salem, New Hampshire & Judith A. Correggio & her husband, Richard P. Correggio of Revere. He is the Dear brother of Tina Turiello of Saugus & the late, Michael Rizzo & the late Catherine Lombardo. He is the cherished Grandfather to: Gina M. Correggio-Regitano & her husband, Richard of Lynnfield & Nicholas R. Correggio & his fiancee, Roseanna Grieco of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his two great-grandchildren, Adriana M. & Marco F. Regitano, & many nieces & nephews. Grasso of Revere & David R. Pignone, Sr. & his wife, Linda of Hampstead, NH. He is the loving uncle to: Lori E.
