Alda Palermo

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, January 11th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Alda (Franco) Palermo, who died on Wednesday evening, January 9th, following a brief illness at Winchester Hospital, Winchester, MA, at 89 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, January 12th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m.  Mrs. Palermo was born & raised in East Boston & educated in East Boston schools.  Mrs. Palermo worked as a candy packer for the former Charlestown Chew Candy Company of Everett for over ten years.  Upon her marriage to Antonio S. Palermo in 1955, she & her husband made their home in Everett, where they remained until moving to West Peabody in 1991.  Mr. Palermo passed on June 20th, 2004.  She is the devoted mother of: Joanne M. Fitzpatrick & her husband Michael J. of Limerick, Maine, Donna M. Milley & her husband George H. of West Peabody, & Stephen Palermo & his wife Justine of Wilmington.  She is the dear sister of Maria Giunta of Everett, Richard Franco & his wife Marguerite of West Peabody, Frederick Franco & his wife Helen of Framingham, & the late John & Ralph Franco.  She is the Cherished Grandmother of Michael J. Muse & his wife Michele of Everett, Erin C. Fitzpatrick of Medford, Sean M. Fitzpatrick of Portland, ME, Ryan G. Milley & Carissa M. Milley both of West Peabody, Samantha A. & Matthew S. Palermo both of Wilmington.  She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Winchester Hospital, ATTN: C-3, 611 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890, or to the: Local Heroes (a special Veterans organization), P.O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887.

    Justine, Stephen, Samantha, and Matthew,

    I am so very sorry to know about the loss of your mother and your grandmother. To Sephen and Justine I would say that our mothers are our greatest champions and to lose them is very, very difficult, regardless of age or circumstance. To Samantha and Matthew please know that I understand your loss. Our grandmothers hold very special places in our hearts but the memories of her will always be with you. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
