Anna Longo

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 11th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere for Anna Longo, who died on Wednesday, May 6th at the home of her niece, following a lengthy illness, in the company of her devoted family and her loving God. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, May 12th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Born and raised in Revere, she was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1948. Early in her working career, she worked as a clerk at the Wonderland Dry Cleaners of Revere and later at Chelsea Carpet as an office manager. Anna retired at age 75 from Intercity Homemaker Services of Revere as their secretary and office manager, where she had served for over 15 years. A devout and practicing catholic, she was deeply religious and a lifetime member of the St. Anthony’s Parish community. She was a volunteer at the church and a member of the Anthonian Club & Ladies Solidarity. Although she was diminutive in size, she was a large personality, knowing, helping and loving all that had the pleasure of coming into contact with her. Some of her friendships, arrived from her long walks and exercise routes, she toted daily. “Auntie Anna” was a surrogate mom to all of her nieces and nephews, not ever having any biological children of her own. Her interest and caring was most authentic and included a large extended family. She was also an active member of the Revere Seniors.

She was the devoted daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (DiSisto) Longo. She was the cherished auntie of Josephine Piccardi (with whom she made her home) and her late husband Hugo, Clara A. Lander and her husband Chester, all of Revere, Michael Longo and his wife, Jerri of Everett, Salvatore A. Longo, Jr. and his wife Linda of Somersworth, NH, Angelo A. “Tiny” Luongo and his wife Jean of Norton, Judy Lacey and her husband Lawrence of Ipswich. She was the dear sister of the late Lucy M. Giuliano and her late husband Joseph, Salvatore A. Longo and his late wife Mary, Josephine Zeoli and her late husband Nicholas, Angelo Luongo and his late wife Phyllis and Florence Zeoli and her late husband Alfred. She is also lovingly survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and nephews and her faithful and constant friend, Joann Giannino and her husband Christy of Revere.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
