Anne T. (Simpson) Penza

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, December 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon), followed by a Funeral Service at 12:15 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Anne T. (Simpson) Penza, who died on Saturday, November 24th at the Chestnut Woods Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center of Saugus, after a long illness. She was 86 years old.

Anne was affectionately known to many as “Auntie Anne”. She was born & raised in South Boston and very proud of it. She was educated in Boston Public Schools. Anne remained in Southie when she was married and began to raise her son James J. Penza. In 1973, the family moved to Dorchester, where they remained for 15 years then moving to Randolph. Anne worked for Commercial Union Assurance for approximately 27 years as a Rater until her retirement. She later went back to her old stomping grounds in South Boston. Anne loved her family and was very much a dedicated mother & grandmother. She prided herself with her cooking and especially loved to cook all of her family’s favorite meals for them.

She was the devoted wife of 40 years to the late Gaetano D. “Guy” Penza. She is cherished mother of James J. Penza & his wife Linda M. of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of Stephanie L. Penza of Saugus & Tracey L. Penza & her companion Joseph Casali of Danvers. She is the adored great grandmother of Isobel M., Nicholas J., & Lucas B. Dear sister of Ret. LT. Boston Fire Dept. John J. “O.J.” Simpson & his wife Millie of Bellingham. She was Auntie Anne to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, friends, & extended family. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), New England Chapter, 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts 02481.

    My sincere condolences to the Simpson/ Penza families. Anne will be sorely missed by all her friends . Over the years we shared many laughs and more than a few tears.Anne was a real “ Southie Girl “ and very proud of it. Anne I hope right now you’re on your Second SB and causing a general rukus in Heaven.( “Hey do ya think we can get some service here”)The lights are dimmed in Southie .We just lost one of our own.❤️☘️

We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
