Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, November 24th, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Barbara A. (Kennedy) Haggerty, who passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 20th at Boston Medical Center. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, November 25th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church ( corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 10:30 a.m..  Barbara was born & raised in Lynn, & came to Revere in the 1950’s & lived in Revere for over 50 years.  She had a brief working career as a bookkeeper, as she became the devoted mother of six children.  Mrs. Haggerty was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Community, being an active member of the Immaculata Guild & the Maria Assunta Guild of the Parish as well as the Mother’s Club & Bowling League.  She enjoyed her summer residence in Raymond, Maine, immensely, always hosting a full house.  As her senior years approached, she held close to her heat “Saturdays” with her daughters, when they would treat her to a luncheon & shopping.  Her beloved husband, Edwin G. Haggerty passed in August of 1992.  She is the devoted mother of: Mary Ellen Kippenberger & her husband, Retired Revere Fire Lieutenant Michael T. Kippenberger of Topsfield, Thomas E. Haggerty & his wife Lyn of Hamburg, NY, Barbara A. D’Eramo & her husband James R. & Michael E. & James L. Haggerty & Margaret A. “Peggy” Haggerty all of Revere. She is the adored grandmother of: Michael T. Kippenberger, Jr. & his wife Lauren of Tewksbury,  Katelyn M. Campbell & her husband Christopher of Burlington, Christopher J. D’Eramo, John J. D’Eramo, Stacey Squillacioti, Shannon, Jamie & Jessica Haggerty all of Revere, Ryan Haggerty & his wife Lisa of Chicago, IL., Kara Haggerty of Valejo, CA Ellen & Lee Haggerty both of Hamburg, NY.  She is also lovingly survived by her great grandson Michael Patrick Kippenberger.  She was the dear sister of the late Rev. William Kennedy, S.J.. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  In Lieu of flowers: Remembrances may be made to: St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
