Basil A. Bova

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE, for Basil A. Bova, who passed following a lengthy illness at Chelsea Soldiers Home on Monday, March 19th (The Feast of St. Joseph). His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Friday, March 23rd at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel at Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave. at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Basil was a 1935 graduate of Revere High School and served with honor in the U.S. Army during World War II, 132nd AAA Gun Battalion, receiving 4 bronze stars. Throughout his career, Basil was President of 20th Fox Record Corporation, President of World -Over Communications, Executive Director and President of New Manhattan Repertory Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of performing arts. He produced and distributed the recording of the Little Drummer Boy for which he was the recipient of the Gold Album Award and Billboards “Record Man of the Year.” He was author of the 2 best seller books, “Christ On Trial” and “Noah 11.”

He leaves his beloved wife of 70 years, Camille M. “Lindy” (Spinelli) Bova. He is the cherished father to Mary Ann Bova-Silva & her husband, Robert, Marguerite L. Bova & her husband, Stephen A. Assad, Basil J. Bova & Melinda K. Ferrante & her husband, Revere Fire Cpt. Steven M. Ferrante, all of Revere. He is the adoring Grandfather “Papa” to Rachel Ferrante-Raffaele & her husband, Christopher, Steven M. Ferrante, Jr. & Katherine Ferrante, Tyler Assad & Michael, Nicholas, Maria & Sophia Silva, all of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his only great-grandchild; Christopher C. Raffaele & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews & cousins. He is the dear brother to Rosemarie DeFabio of Revere & the late Katie Ruzzo, Salvatore Bova & Concetta “Connie” Manganiello. He was also son to the late Salvatore & Mary (Messina) Bova.

Friday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Chapel, Chelsea Soldiers Home, Chelsea

Interment

Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 8105-9959.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
