Donald L. Marks

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Donald Lester Marks on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere.  Mr. Marks died on Sunday, March 23rd in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston, following a short illness, at 78 years.  Born in Chelsea, he attended Chelsea schools & was a 1953 alumnus of Chelsea High School.  Most of his working career was as a truck driver for local companies, retiring at age 65 from W.A. Wood Company.  Mr. Marks was a longstanding member of the Mt. Vernon-Gaillean Ledge AF&AM of Malden for over 37 years.  He carried the title of “Master Mason.”  He is the beloved husband of 53 years to Lorraine A. (Aideuis).  He is the devoted father of Brenda J. Kelly & her husband John T. “Jake” Kelly, Donald L. Marks, Jr. & his wife Maria, all of Lynnfield, & the late William C. Marks.  He is the cherished grandfather of Matthew R. & Lauren E. Kelly, & Austin H. & Olivia M. Marks, all of Lynnfield, & the late Hunter J. Marks.  He is the brother of Dorothy L. Waters & her husband John of Ipswich.  He is also lovingly survived by several nieces & nephews.  Funeral services & interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
