Doris E. (Linnell) Creighton

A funeral service was held at the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, of Revere, for Doris E. (Linnell) Creighton, who died on Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 at the Beverly Hospital, following a brief illness, at 93 years.  Born & raised in Vermont, she came to live in Chelsea as a young girl with her family & lived there for over 40 years, until moving to Revere 50 years ago.  Mrs. Creighton was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & a faithful & caring daughter to her late mother, Annice (Vallette) Linnell, who made her home with Doris.  Mrs. Linnell died at age 96.  Doris’ father, the late Reverend Ralph W. Linnell, was Pastor of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Chelsea for about ten years in the late forties & 1950’s.  She is the widow of the late George C. Creighton, who died in December of 1982.  She is the devoted Mother of, Robert N. Creighton & his wife Catherine of Lynnfield, Ralph J. Creighton of Las Vegas, Nevada, Eleanor Kelley of Saugus formerly of Revere, & the late George C. Creighton, Jr.  She is the dear sister of Ralph W.  Linnell, Jr. of Tampa, Florida.  She is also lovingly survived by 9 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
