Dorothy M. (Jacobs) Olsen

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home Olsen, Dorothyfor Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Dorothy M. (Jacobs) Olsen, who passed away, at 90 years, on Monday evening, February 1st at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a brief illness. Her Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
Born and raised in Revere, she graduated from Revere High School in 1943.While Dorothy enjoyed her family, she also enjoyed being active in the working world. Upon graduating from Revere High School, she became an Assistant Buyer for the former R.H. White’s Department store in downtown Boston. After raising her family, she was a longtime employee of the Shirley Shoe Outlet in Revere and at Host-Marriott at Logan Airport in the gift shop at the United Airlines terminal. She was an avid crocheter who loved to make afghan blankets for family and friends. She also crocheted dozens of baby bonnets which she donated to local area hospitals including Children’s Hospital. She was also an animal lover who cared for several feral cats in the Oak Island community. She was a longtime member of the VFW Post 6712, Ladies Auxiliary, in Beachmont, Revere.

 

She is the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Henry L. Olsen, Retired Revere Fire Department Captain. She was the devoted mother of James Olsen & his wife Joyce of Amesbury, Karen DeVincentis & her husband Carl of Rowley, Susan Olsen of Revere & Dr. Nancy R. Olsen Waldron, PhD. & her partner John O’Brien of Winthrop. Cherished grandmother of Randy  Waldron, of Manhattan, NY , James G. Olsen, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Newburyport, Lawrence J. Scaglione, IV and his wife Chelsea of Munson and Michelle DeVincentis of Beverly. Dear sister of Marjorie Clukey and her husband Roger of Vero Beach, FL. and the late Florence Kloack, Frances DePasquale, Charles Jacobs, Earl Jacobs, Harold “Sonny” Jacobs and James Jacobs. She also leaves her cousin Jean Livick of Saugus. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
