Family & friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, April 4th, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Earl Kent Burton, Jr.,surrounded by his loving family, who died following a long & courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease at his Revere residence on Tuesday, April 1st.  The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.  Born in Melrose and raised in Lawrence, he attended Lawrence schools & continued onto Northeastern University, graduating in 1964.  In December of 1964, he entered the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Era, rising to the rank of Captain & served until November of 1975.  He had a brilliant career in the military & was the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, for 5 campaigns, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, The Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm & The Armed Forces Reserve Medal.  He retired from the Federal Bankruptcy Court at Boston, as a Budget Analyst, after twenty-five years of service in 2007.  He is survived by his beloved wife & best friend for over 30 years, Carol A. (Walsh) Burton.  The couple have lived in Revere for over 24 years.  He is the devoted father of: Laura Hollis & her husband William of Whitman & Debra Kaake & her husband Douglas C. Kaake, II of Plymouth.  He is the cherished grandfather of: Kristina, Gregory, Angelica, Joseph, Douglas, Daniel, Olivia & the late Jennifer.  He is the brother of: Katherine Giles & her husband Raymond of Salem, NH.  He is also lovingly survived by two great granddaughters, Fiona & Alanna and two nieces, Katherine Poirier & her husband Timothy of Celebration , FL & Patricia Scala & her husband Christopher of Salem, NH.  In Lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Michael J. On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
