Edna R. (Silva) Fairchild

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, March 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for fairchild, ednaFunerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), Revere, for Edna R. (Silva) Fairchild, who passed after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. The funeral mass will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. in St. John The Evangelist Church (320 Winthrop St.),WINTHROP, followed by interment in the Belle Isle Section of Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop.

Born in Rhode Island, Edna came to live with her family when she two years old to East Boston. She spent 63 years in East Boston, when she moved to Winthrop, 35 (thirty-five) years ago. For 21 years she worked as a cashier for the old “FIRST NATIONAL STORES” CHAIN, in the Orient Heights, East Boston store. Edna was all about family & enjoyed a beautiful closeness with her entire family. Her late husband, Charles N. Fairchild died in January of 1958, leaving her a single mother with three little children to care for. And that she did & did well according to her children, until her dying day.

She is the cherished mother of Eileen Fairchild-White & her husband, Walter P. of East Boston, Robert W. Fairchild & his wife, Norah Dooley of Brookline & Phyllis C. Fairchild of Winthrop. She is the devoted Grandmother to Sira Dooley-Fairchild, Julia Dooley-Fairchild, Ferron Dooley-Fairchild & Rosalie Dooley-Fairchild, all of Brookline, MA. She is also lovingly survived by her niece, Patricia A. Thompson & her husband, Richard of East Boston.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
