Elaine M. (Miles) Harder

Lifelong resident of East Boston, on Dec. 8th after a long battle with lung cancer, at 73 years old. Beloved daughter of the late A. Frank Miles & A. Lucy (Discenza) Miles. Cherished mother of Lauren J. Robinson & husband Mark of Millbury, Jennifer J. Buonopane & her companion Anthony of Derry, NH, Dana M. Harder & wife Jessica of Quincy & Darcie L. Harder of East Boston. Adored grandmother of Brittany, Kayla, Sydney, Marissa, Bobby, Timmy, Evan, Anthony & Rino. Dear sister of Ellen J. Connell & husband Dave, Debbie Tassinari & husband Thomas, all of East Boston & Cindy F. Homer of Alabama & her late husband Brian Homer. Also lovingly survived by her dear cousin Bobby Discenza & his wife Virginia of MN & many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Funeral Services will be private. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

Elaine loved spending time & going places with her grandson Timmy. She enjoyed doing arts & crafts & playing Bingo. She was a Retired Employee of the Boston Herald as a Switchboard Operator for over 20 years.

    The passing of Elaine is such a loss to our family. Elaine would always attend family functions, without question. She will be sadly missed at all future functions. But, I somehow believe she will always be there in spirit.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
